What? No Russian composer has ever composed in this style- the arranger, Gryaznov, is Russian but he wrote it in the style of Liszt and Thalberg. Rachmaninov only wrote the melody and he would never write a piece in such showoff style.
@tchaikoffkey
@tchaikoffkey 5 жыл бұрын
Caleb Hu really? He would NEVER write a piece in such a showoff style? Well ignore his concertos, etude-tableaux, moments musical (especially 2,4, and 6) and many of his preludes, and you might be right.

@@tchaikoffkey They're not show-off pieces... They're merely difficult pieces that make full use of a pianist's hands. Rachmaninoff was not afraid to write simple music if simple meant beautiful.
@calebhu6383
@calebhu6383 4 жыл бұрын
@@tchaikoffkey "Show-off" refers to the style of Thalburg, Dreyschock, and to some extent, Liszt. Simply put, it's music with an emphasis on sounding difficult rather than music for the sake of music. Listen to Cziffra's transcriptions, for example. Rachmaninov never wrote anything resembling that. That is why I contend that this piece sounds less and less Russian as it goes along.

Hmmm... Difficult, indeed. But what exactly would be the biggest challenge? Leaps with rich chords in the left hand? Neat playing thirds and sixths in the right hand part? Once I have seen a tutorial on Chopin piano studies op. 25 no 6 and 11, carried out by Paul Burton. I think he is a great teacher, and with his advice, I could play everything, although certaiinly not so soon ;-)

@@arcana2098 Well, on the one hand it's definitly not as logical as the italian polka but it's playable (if you want to listen to something almost unplayable take a look at Cziffras Flight of the Bumblebee). On the other hand personally I don't like these modern kind of music so I wouldn't give the sheet to my students If they didn't ask me especially for it. To summarize my opinion about this piece: Any student: Mr Orwell, I composed a piano piece for you, do you have any Ideas to improve it? I would like to see those same people: -Professionally either arrange and perform a virtuoso piece. -Do this with about 7 to 8 other pieces as well and make a music book out of it. -Perform those pieces live multiple times in your life at professional recital competitions -And then gain notoriety as a professional in your craft for it. Of course those that disliked the video couldn't, they're just snobby hatters most likely. You're arrangements and transcriptions are amazing Slava, keep up the amazing and beautiful work.

I watched this video and was like, isn't this the original Italian Polka? Turns out Italian Polka is actually written for two pianos and this version is so popular I never even got to listen to the original

ziad haddad That's because most people can't to appreciate the utter brilliance the piece needs in order to be written and the technique that is required to execute! I love the piano and classical music because any person who takes interest in it not only demonstrates maturity, but also a well developed figure. I'm extremely excited to watch Gryaznov perform here in Naples Florida! His music shows what an absolute genius he is!
