The People Soup mod has a playable guitar and harmonica that equip in the weapon slots. I will never forget the moment when I went to pull out my rifle to shoot some army guys and started playing guitar instead...

This happened today: I went to cordon to visit the loner base near the bridge. It was night time, and stalkers were squatting beside a campfire. Beside them was a dead loner. I dragged the corpse near the guitarist, and at that time he started to play "Peaceful Ending". When that happened, I actually thought they were paying tribute to their fallen comrade. such is life in the zone.

I'm sorry the my behind English ( Im russian) Born in Russia, and easier for me to feel this atmosphere. So glad that it may feel the same at all the other people who were not born in the post-Soviet territory. It's nice when there are people who love the game and abroad.

Sometimes I play Stalker. Then I forget about it for a few months and then I feel sudden urge to go back. Stalker can leave the Zone, but the Zone won't leave stalker.

I absolutely adore Stalker. Not because of its gameplay, not even because of its atmosphere. It is one of _very_ few videogames that are cult classics all over the world despite showing a slice of a single culture. For everyone who didn't get to live in post-Soviet Russia, i can tell you this game is depressing, but honest. Post-Soviet Russia wasn't quite about survival, but about stoicism afore the bleakness and cruelty and indifference of the world and everyone around you. It's not the angsty "nobody understands how bad I have it" but the Dostoyevskian "everyone is just as miserable as you are, and you don't see them complaining". It's about the subtle difference of the same person giving you their last piece of bread and robbing you blind. Not in the sense of "who helps you can also hurt you" but in the sense of "if things were a little different, your best friend would be your worst enemy". It's about you being terrified of people who are meant to defend you. It's about you distancing yourself from the world just enough so you can keep caring for the few people you hold dear. I have no idea why Stalker became a cult classic anywhere outside of post-Soviet countries, but I'm very glad it did. If we were to meet in the nineties, I'd be very likely to rob you blind just because you're someone I don't know. But since I haven't done that yet, the fire is warm and you can have the guitar if you play.

Listening to these while squatting around the campfire... definitely one of the best parts of the game

In my country there was this gaming magazine that came with a copy of a game attached to it, generally the games were two or three years old but since my pc was subpar at best, I would buy an issue every month, one day, out came the magazine with a copy of stalker:clear sky attached to it, since there was nothing else, I bought it thinking it was gonna be a resident evil-esque horror game I was wrong in the best kind of way. that game made me go places man it was like cocaine mixed with high quality craft beer in a syringe, only it didnt kill me by using it, words are not enough to describe how fucking awesome this game was

I started playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. after completing the Metro games this month. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about it. Best decision of my life. I look forward to exploring more of The Zone soon.

I started playing STALKER recently and seeing the comments here from late as 4 years ago seems like old stories of old stalkers in the Zone. My journey only has started.

I've first played stalker after my dad gave me his favorite sci-fi book and asked me to read it. It was Roadside Picnic. Then we saw Stalker (the movie) together. Then I played STALKER. Then I started watching Boris. That made me repeat the whole process. Hell, i'm reading Roadside Picnic for the third time now while playing Misery.

One of the best part of the game is just sitting by the campfire, chill out, listen to the stalkers talking and this. I can just sit there for hour. Too bad the Stalkers don't pull out a guitar often like SoC in CoP.

I love stalker and metro

Fuck... so many feels. Makes me want to go back to the zone again.. But I've played them all to death, all possible ways.. mods.. addons.. And still, there will never be a game quite like it. Never! And maybe its good that they arent making a Stalker 2.. Because with how the game industry looks today, it would probably be shit :( I miss the zone.

I remember when i played Shadow of Chernobyl in my youth, drunk ass hell with my stereo on full with loud bass. I was fucking there man, i was in the fucking zone of Chernobyl, drunk as hell. My head was spinning around and around, completly immersed in the game. I whould give anything to have the fresh gaming of this game back, fuckin tits this game was and is. This game have frigging made me want to visit the zone in real life, and i will, with my dad,next year aka 2017, Dad told me about the day in 86, and he knows a really fucking much about the event, if the wind blew the other way, things could get a really more fucked up, but it was fate that changed the wind that day. And the fucking fish, it was posioned with radiation, and it still may be, after 30 years after the incident. Fun part, i was born 4 years and almost four months later, and i want to go there, i don't want to go to a fucking paradise, i want to go to the zone, the place has so much fucking history, and i fucking love that, fuck Hiroshima, Chernobyl/Pripyat is the place. 26th of April, 1986, never forget.

There, a tunnel ! 5 secs, surge is coming... Will reach just in time ! Oh sorry mujik..what did you say ? " GET OUT OF HERE STALKER ? " ...(...you died in the Zone...) ...(..loading last save ...)... I just love S.T.A.L.K.E.R. !

S.T.A.L.K.E.R feels a lot more post-apocalyptic than fallout does (well fallout 3, 4 and new vegas atleast) who else agrees?

In the future, after 100 years, some people will talk about how good stalker was and how Call Of Future: 2102 Fight for Duty sucks.

I remember when I first played S.T.A.L.K.E.R SOC. I remember I would always raided the military checkpoint right of the rookie camp with my trusty makarov and sawed off. Though I did get my ass handed to me, I always had a smile on my face when I did successfully clear the place because of how overpowered I was in the beginning of the game.

In highschool I gifted stalker to a good friend and he really enjoyed the game, he learned some of the songs and often brought his guitar played them during breaks Don't see him now nowadays, but I believe he still enjoys stalker as much as I do

This game changed my life, really. I see the world a little differently now. I appreciate being outside more, and I treat my small group of friends like we're brothers. (They don't treat me the same, unfortunately. we're all women.) I want to run away and live in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. And I'm serious. Life seems much better there than living in such a toxic society.

saw a buddy of mine playing this one day, 2011 i think. had heard of the fallout franchise and played the shit outta fo3, but never stalker. i couldn't stop watching him play this masterpiece. i now own and have played nearly all of them.

I need to buy a guitar

Started a new game in call of pripyat. Starting good, playing some secondary quests, found a cool one where you have to look for a stash in a car that got stuck in a crumbling near a gas station. It's pitch dark, I'm at the gas station, killed a few wandering dogs, and I found that huge and deep crack in the ground. And the car was down there. I spot some ways to go down the crack and thus I engage myself in the perilous descent. I reached the car without hurting myself, got the loot and then I was halted by that one question : how do I go back to the surface? I don't have any torchlight or whatever and it's pitch dark. I spot in the darkness a tiny weeny tunnel cave, thought it might be a good idea to explore it in search of an exit. Downside is that it was full of weird feral-zombie stalkers ready to kick my ass with their adidas shoes and lurking in the dark, I was aimlessly shooting at the roaring shadows till they got me. It was my first time dying in the game and I almost shat myself

Listening to this in the middle of one of the greatest shitstorms in my life. I would give anything just to be a stalker. There would be no people in the Zone. Just stalkers. I could imagine listening to this next to a campfire with comrade stalkers and no one would see my tears behind my gas mask.

As a kid I never really cared about the campfires. That was until I was passing by and saw a lone stalker taking out his guitar. My charakter didn't even move an inch until he putted it back. I didn't care about my mission I was rushing. Just standing there. Listening to the beautiful sounds. I'm literally crying of my good memories :)

it's been 14 years since this video was posted, and i only have almost a year since i played stalker for the first time. the feeling i felt listening to this it's like i'm feeling something nostalgic, don't know how to describe it but it's a mix of melancholy and happiness, the feeling as i ever lived that before. as our fellow comrade stalker said in a comment below: "You can take a Stalker out of the Zone, but you can never take the Zone out of a Stalker."; man, i felt that hard, gotta say =') for those new in the game: good hunting, stalker!

Beautiful, how the songs symbolize different things. Against the ionized odds sounds like a track of empowerment, while Kordon sounds like a happy ending

10 years already... such a wonder time and memory!

What I love about this guitar track is how honest and raw it is: you can often hear the buzz of a string that's not properly pressed, showing you how these men aren't professional guitar players, just STALKERS trying to survive. They're making music for the comfort of their souls, not as an actual performance. Another neat thing is how these songs are mostly played with basic, open chords like Am or Em. There is no extravagant embellishment going on in this music, just people making music from what they know.

This is what I love about STALKER. They know they'll die horrible deaths but yet they gather around the campfire to listen a fellow stalker play these melancholic songs as if the heavens were ready to fall.

I never had the chance of playing stalker, but now that the second game is around maybe i can finally give it a try

To a honour fallen legend

The zone may be an unforgiving hell, but sitting by a group of loners enjoying some cossacks and listening to one of their beautiful tunes, with the only illumination being from a warm campfire, really makes it feel like there is something worth more than artifacts or money.

I wish I was in S.T.A.L.K.E.R's world. I would love the moments by the campfire drinking vodka and playing the guitar. Of course i would hate living in a world full of anomalies and bandits, but the connection that S.T.A.L.K.E.R made with me was incredible. A type of connection i had never made with a game before. So deep and strong, i wish i was in that world

Listening to this makes me nostalgic. I remember sitting with stalkers huddled by a campfire, I didn't speak their language but I always felt like I belonged with them. This music gifts my soul serenity in one of the most troubling times of my life

Stalker call of pripyat is the game they wanted to make. Stalker shadow of Chernobyl is the story they wanted to tell. And stalker clear sky is what the game could've had if given enough time (faction wars, progression system, reputation, etc)
