"If you keep your mouth shut, you'lll be surprised what you can learn."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
S-Town is a new podcast from Serial and This American Life, hosted by Brian Reed, about a man names John who despises his Alabama town and decides to do something about it. He asks Brian to investigate the son of a wealthy family who's allegedly been bragging that he got away with murder. But when someone else ends up dead, the search for the truth leads to a nasty feud, a hunt for hidden treasure, and an unearthing of the mysteries of one man's life.

(SPOILER) Listener from 🇬🇧. I listened to this not long after it came out and had no idea it was real. As I listened I was blown away by the complexity of the story, the interviews seemed so.. real. I was about half way through when I thought to look up some of the places mentioned and only then found out it was all very real. John B was as complex a character as some of the timepieces he fixed. I write this September 2020. Covid has gripped the world. I wonder perhaps how John B would have reacted to this. I wouldn’t have been surprised if he would have come up with a solution to it all, it seemed that he was able to see order in chaos except that in his own life. The fascinating part of all of this was that Brian Reed would have had no concept of the outcome when he started to investigate the claims set by JBM. I have since tried my hardest to get as many people as possible to listen to this without giving anything away. I think to listen to it without any knowledge beforehand is the best way to enjoy this in its purest way. An extraordinary legacy to an extraordinary brain of an extraordinary man.

@@s_1408 Ha, those north east Georgia towns are quaint, were quaint. Hey I have a fantasy that I can interest you in poking int an unsolved murder.....So as a teaser, I want you to imagine a skinny little kid in the middle of the upper west near the dakotas where therre are boring flat horizons on his schwinn bicycle..,..how he got that bike is another matter which would fit but make it longer than you wan to read..so Imaginer this junior high school kid peddling on a long long road from one farming area to another,,,He does this twic e a week, as I recall. He has finished his clases at school and he is on his way to another teacher and another class. This is a very skinny ccheerful but deceptively determined boy. ..He has to be determined because that's how he got the bike. YOu see he has 9 other brothers and sisters.....So this is one reason why I want so some cub reporter from the show to poke around. If a If a kid from a family of 9 other brothers and sisters is murdered. Surely there's enough backgournd inforamtion to fill our a cute adorable character, and set up the listeners for the fall. I will stop here

Small towns are never what people think they are I grew up in a very small town on the Mississippi River in Iowa and I could tell you a lot of stories about that place it had a quiet a few characters and it also had a dark side. When people drive through these little towns they find them to be idyllic but that is more often than not the truth point is there probably isn’t a Mayberry out there although we all wish there was%

I have lived in Bibb county all my life and I to know of cover up by police in 1990s in Woodstock al Bibb county police arrested my uncle Jerry Edwards parks convinced him of murder of Ricky Gardener and Jimmy hicks I been told all my life did kill Ricky Gardener but my uncle seats in brent county corrections 20+ years later he still after all these years pleads of his innocence. My mom Vickie parks stood trying to get him released until her dead in July 7 2015 cancer. My uncle was a drunk past out at a party with gardener and hicks everyone who knows all these gentlemen at the party years later has swore and told us Jerry parks in innocent. I'm 30 now they didn't have forensics in Bibb county back then they never found anything pointing to my uncle everyone has told me they put my uncle away on hear say evidence and Jerry didn't do it. My uncle has lost watching his kids grow up , his dad pass and his best friend my mom die. As long as I live I will plead for someone to look over this case and release him before my granny passes with her son in brent county for a murder he never did. Thank you Jennifer Shaw Williams. It's really weird, because according to the story at the beginning of the Podcast that John is telling, Dylan "slashed someone's throat" which would entitle the person to self defense. So if Dylan died because being beat because he tried to kill someone else, that's karma not murder. But I am assuming that there is more to the story and this is only episode one.
