Women and girls can do anything they set their minds to. Did you read the instructions first? 🙄 I'm a woman and I've assembled an IKEA desk and cabinet before. I happened to find a discarded Tarno chair yesterday, tried to open it a few ways, oiled the hinged joints and let it sit until now. I was puzzled, trying to figure out the technique. When I just tried again, the chair was so stiff, I had to hold the seat down on the floor with my foot, while pulling up the bar with my hands until it was amost fully opened. I sat on it to lock it in place. . I've been a bicycle mechanic for 15 years, and also did basic repairs on my two then-vintage cars (in my teens and early twenties) before I sold the last one in 1983, in favour of cycling as my main mode of travel. I started learning how to repair my bike in my late twenties, watching the mechanic. I took a bike mechanics course 16 years ago, started working at a repair/sales shop, and joined a non-profit, DIY bike collective 12 years ago, where we teach people how fix their own bikes. How's that for empowerment, autonomy and being environmentally-friendly? My friend of 40 years is an airplane, helicopter, motorcycle and locomotive train mechanic, with whom I was impressed by her choice of a non-traditional career in 1981. She was one of three women in her aircraft mechanics course, and was ridiculed by the guys also taking it, saying she'd never pass, and making sexist "jokes." She wore pink coveralls to make her point, and passed the 3-yr course, while many guys failed or were weeded out in the first 2 years. She got the last laugh! Don't underestimate your ability to learn things that we "simple," "girly-girl" women are dissuaded to do by sexist men. Mechanics, using power tools (or even screwdrivers/wrenches, etc) are *_learned skills_* that anyone, regardless of gender, can become adept at within a short time. ✈️ 🚁 🛩 🚂 🏍 👩🏼‍🔧💪🏼💄🔧🪛⚙️ 🚲💄👩🏻‍🔧

Try to tap repeatedly those with joint parts on chair legs to loosen up. Its stuck due to being stored for a long time. Hope this works

I put WD-40 on the joints and that seemed to open it but now I can’t seem to close the chair!

Mine won't open either. I've just oiled the joints so I'll give it another go when the oil has had chance to penetrate.

Yes, you can unscrew at the bottom of the table and fold both the legs. You just reverse what I did on the video. Let me know if this helps 😊

It would've been helpful if you'd used common sense and noted the size of his hands in relation to the chair, to realise it's a suitable size for an adult. The IKEA website photos at 00:18 show the table & chair set with regular outdoor items on & next to it, and a window sill behind it. The chair's _seat_ is 70cm/19" high (he even pats the seat as he says it, camera focused in on it), so logically, the backrest (total chair height) is greater. At 04:15, he says, and the on-screen text states, that the total LENGTH of the chair (laying flat, unopened) is 93cm/36", and at 05:15 the HEIGHT (assembled) is 79cm/31", though I just measured mine (set up, ready to sit on), and the total HEIGHT, _from the floor to the top rail of the backrest,_ is 81cm/32". BTW, the content creator is not obliged to do everything for his viewers; I think he knows that anyone using the 'net knows how to Google/search "IKEA Tarno chair." For that matter, neither do I, but I've got nothing better to do than call out people out for their laziness or you scolding him because you expect he can read your mind, and need things to be spoon-fed to you.
