3.42 rear end, 1.9td aaz from 96 Jetta, self-made adapter plate from S10 4 cylinder bell housing to VW 4 cylinder. Camaro starter because S10 starter didn't have enough juice. Custom machined flywheel balanced to match VW bolt pattern and balance. S10 original clutch with modified clutch fork. VW original turbo. wastegate limited to 24 psi. VW rad and electric fans.

Sweet diesel truck! I had a 1.8 vw truck, 1983, with over 530,000 miles on it. I sold it for $1,000. 2 years later the buyer calls me just to say, "your truck is still running strong"

That's pretty neat. Had one in a pickup and despite blowing the intake hose off with boost several times and over-revving as much as any 16 year old would, the engine held up just fine.

@@pissedoffpistongarage it would be really cool would definitely add to the craziness of the corvair. I have learned quite a bit more owning my Jetta and I guess if you want a simple 150hp engine the alh is a great choice and it’s capable of 300+ but then your building the bottom end and all but if you want hp I hear a bew or brm are better engines but they might be slightly more complicated of a swap due to a little more computer stuff. There’s a couple really good tdi swap Facebook groups that have a ton of helpful info and people. Would definitely be cool to see happen

@@heyoitssky1191 I was thinking about putting in a crazy powered k24 and make it rip but with the way the world is right now I need the mpg more than I need the power. I need to do my research on the engine codes though. I hear the alh name get tossed around a bit. But yeah 150 hp with 300 ft in a little “truck” isn’t bad considering the stock 2.2 makes 118 lol

I used the s10 2.5 4 cylinder - t5 bell housing and s10 flywheel. That I had machined and balanced to match the VW one.

i wish i could put some diesel into my 2000 Blazer... highways MPG is no more than 25. some airstream improvements can increase +2... but still... way to far to 46+

Nicky Surr - Why not a vw tdi? Not the fastest of engines but they've been proven for longevity and economy! Kubota makes a bunch also. If you have 10+g to toss at her I'd personally look into getting a Cummins crate motor. Think they're 2.8L I4? Set up ready to drop into jeep wranglers I believe...
