The video equivalent of "more cowbell!" LOL

I have this boat and the tippiness isn't too bad but I Would never fish from it. Chop it can handle, much better than its predecessor the S14 (G1), it also tracks a whole lot better and is overall a better, more complete boat but fishing no. I would consider the S12, can have some fun in chop but much more stable.

@@mikecoglione1308 thanks for the response. Do you feel it’s too tippy as a fishing boat or are there other reasons? My style of fishing is more like hunting, throwing lures around in relatively calm waters, constantly on the move. I have fished out of my sea kayak before (22” at the widest point) which was ok but a bit too edgy to make a habit out of it.

@@mmmbass6068 This boat is 24.5" wide so maybe it's a bit more stable than your sea kayak but I feel that any kind of movement in this boat unsettles it; only a tiny little bit, enough to be comfortable and even not paddle in mild chop. You cannot pick things up from the side though without risking tipping the boat. A fisherman at a local pond asked me to try to dis-entagle a lure sitting in the reeds and I just couldn't. Some old guy who had tipped his SOT kayak and had his cooler full of water/beer in the water asked me to help. I could not pick up the cooler out of the water without tipping the kayak and ended up pushing it towards him where he was trying to put in so he could just grab it. Again balance is subjective, you may find this boat VERY stable as I am 6'4" and have a hard time finding stable boats. For the speed and responsiveness it's extremely stable though. More than the old S14. I also have an S12 and a dragonfly, just sold my S14(G1) to get this. The Dragonfly is the best for fishing but it's so small and light you're like a little leaf blown about, definitely not for a windy way. The S12 is very stable, like recreational stable but has enough seaworthiness to take on big seas and big waves. I think the S12 is a nice in between that is fun, responsive, relatively fast but stable enough to pick up something out of the water with a certain weight like a fighting fish. The one thing that is both a huge "pro" and "con" for the S12 is that it tracks fantastically well. It's really good for a beginner in rough water, or rough conditions in general but it's not that playful and doesn't like to turn. If I were you I would look up the S12 and see if dealers have one. I was just browsing around for an S14 G2 and found that the boats most Stellar dealers have in stock are the S12, S16 Kayak, and S16 ski. I found the S16 kayak to be so tippy as to be uncontrollable as it's only 21 or 22 inches wide. But given that you may find an S12, you might wish to look for a demo. Not cheap but it really is one of the nicest and best "recreational" kayaks that is fast, responsive, can double as a true sea kayak out there, but has enough safety and tracking margin to be great for a spouse or kid who doesn't know the techniques as well as you or time enough to practice like you do etc.

@@mmmbass6068 If you want light composite you can take in big conditions the S12 is your best bet as it's kind of stable not that you lack skill or are tippy but big fish will make you such so you need a boat with initial stability. That said you already have a nice "fun" boat right a 22" wide sea kayak so why not consider the Dragonfly? I got all 3 (S14 G2, Dragonfly and S12) basically for the fam. The Dragonfly is an open top packboat 24lb canoe that is paddled like a kayak. Very stable, like fishing stable. It will NOT handle big waters but is just amazing for getting into and out of fishing spots, rivers, streams, ponds and flatwater. In other words don't get a boat that does everything just OK. Get one that is good for the sea (check for you), and get another that is really good for flatwater, maneuverability, initial stability, fishing and getting into hard to access places.

I think so I just got one in the spring.
