Tap Dance Tutorials with Ryan C-Birch / E01 - 1 Step, 4 Ways.
In this episode we take 1 Steve Condos Rudiment and dance it 4 different ways. In even 8th notes, swung (accented) 8th notes starting on the 'a' (off the beat), swung 8th notes starting on the '1' (on the beat), and in triplets.
These ideas could be applied to any step you already have, or want to create. Helping you to find multiple different ways to explore and dance the same step.
Make sure you subscribe to my channel to keep up to date with the latest episode releases.

It's so helpful to hear you describe the steps in musician language, concentrating on the sounds and the count. I don't tap but I experience it more as a percussion instrument than as a visual art. This video takes me back to my college jazz improv classes🥁

this is fantastic, thank you for making this! i began tap dancing a year ago (actually, yesterday was my tap-iversary) and due to limited options where i live i rely solely on video tutorials. this one seemed intimidating at first but you really broke it down in a way i can relate to. i've had 2 practices with it and voila! i have it down! ...well, at a slightly slower pace. this was my first time trying anything in triplets so i start to screw up at that point if i begin too fast. :-/ i'm totally stoked to get into the next one!

I watched your 6 part series ... My mom was a Radio City Rockette when she was a teen before she got married and had kids. Although she never played an instrument ... she came from a musical family. I remember her saying ... When tap dancing is done right then TAP SHOES should be classified as a PERCUSION INSTRUMENT. Thanks for going into detail on timing ... nice job ... (most KZfaq tap dance instructionals don't bother with that).

Did you study with Loui De Pron ?...I just seem to recognize a familiar rhythm...but he was way before your time.....love your steps.........sorry, I just forget how old I am....Loui was Donald O' Connors teacher.....wow....older dancers still think they are 15 years old...

Thanx Ryan! This is awesome, great that you do this with good, detailed and understanding teaching! I'm tapdancer and tapteacher too in the Netherlands (Musical & Dance Center - www.musicaldancecenter.com). During my last summer holiday in Reno, Nevada, we saw your show with the guys from Tap Factory. And wow, how I loved that production. You were doing all great! Please go on and I will follow your videos! Thanx again!

Ryan. I am a relatively new tapper (at a mature age no less) and have been working through the first couple of tutorials in Season 1. You mentioned "Steve Condos rudiments" and I was wondering if you know of a resource containing all 16. I cannot find anything like that on the Internet which lays them all out systematically. There are a few KZfaq clips showing the first several rudiments (e.g., 1-6), but they are not explained, just performed. Thanks.
