In this episode I am riding from El Penon in Argentina to Tolar Grande on my Royal Enfield Himalayan. This is a very desolate and remote area in Argentina and the roads are tough! All the corrugated roads (also known as washboard) are beating up my motorcycle and me. When I finally arrived in Tolar Grande, I lost one part and broken another...

Some years ago when I did my Roadtrip through Argentina, they also stopped us quite often in Catamarca. We eventually asked them why and they track where you are going and relay your information to the next station. As the area is so remote, this is one of the few ways they can keep track of missing vehicles/accidents, etc. Quite often as we approached the checkpoints they would already know who we were and ask us about our drive- similar to how he knew you'd gone to Piedra Pomez.

Yes, did a long trip for 4week holiday, to Perth cross Nullarbor Desert in 70s and every vehicle waved cheerily at every other, passing by. If anyone broke down en route, next car would stop and help. 12,000km, 50 degrees heat, burnt my assonance bike’s water-seat! Pursuing the horizon, opens new places in one’s mind and heart

I think that's a good thing tbh. I bet there are a couple of tourists that drive around in remote areas and not be accordingly prepared for what is coming. And when you search for lost people there is nothing much left than the police to relay on.... There is a guy on youtube who can be hired for scouting missing backpackers in remote jungle countries. I watched some of his videos. 50% of the people he founds are dead. He is rented from the families when police stopped searching after a while...

I've been seeing comments about Noraly and her Himalayan on the motorcycle sites for a long time now, but for some reason I've never actually checked it out. I happened to come across this episode while surfing KZfaq today and after watching for 10 minutes I'm hooked. What a refreshing change from the usual high dollar equipment "adventure biking" day trips I usually see. Noraly's up-beat attitude and humor are wonderful. Now I'm dreaming of taking off for an adventure myself. I'm not sure I could handle the adversity half as well, though. Going to start watching the whole series from the beginning now.

The desolation of that part of the beautiful country you were in came across in your video. This was the first time since I started watching your presentations (since their beginning) that I felt some fear for your safety. From people to a small degree but to a greater degree from the physical environment you are in. Nature simply does not care about you one way or another. Risk is of course part of the adventure. But be safe. Stay prepared for anything that she, Ms Nature, may present to you.

@@Sj1bby She is obviously an intelligent and experienced traveler perhaps more experienced than I. But I'm pretty good and even after many years of playing in a variety of ecotypes (at a variety of elevations and under a variety of weather conditions) I still occasionally get surprised. Fairly recently my surprise was a little uncomfortable. But she's probably way ahead of me. And she's confident and that helps making the right choices when things get tough. In the type of stuff she was in during this segment I'd be just a little more content if I knew she had high altitude/cold weather light weight sleeping gear and a back-up food/water supply. Perhaps she does. Again, she's probably at least a step ahead of my concerns. But if she gets thrown off an edge, her Sat. phone goes flying, and she turns into an Itchy Boots-sicle, what am I going to do to replace that great smile and all those beautiful landscapes and multi-cultural entertainment? In any case, I'm just along for the ride.

@@Dave-sw2dm She's taking a break so we can talk about her in the third person! I agree about the water. More would be a little more insurance. And more is better but it is very heavy and I think her bike is pretty much maxed out. A small quantity of food not so much. And without food there's no energy production and no fuel for the internal furnace. Space blankets are OK but I'd opt for a down bag or even clothing wrapped in something waterproof. LOL. Her adventure is fun even when she's napping.

You know how cold it gets at night, I'm afraid of getting strended there and nobody passing by to help. Also the wind can get pretty strong, I've measured 139 kph! Hi Noraly, Just watched this video for the second time. It’s exhausting! How on earth do you cope with all the off road, washboard surfaces, bouncing in the saddle and on your foot pegs and STILL have the energy to smile and film your outro? You are a true star and a wonderful ambassador for everyone who rides motorcycles. You did look tired at the end of this video though. Episode 50 will be a milestone video and one to look forward to. Then, my dear young Nederlandse, take a well-earned rest. Recharge your batteries, run a spanner and a sponge over Dhanno and pat her on the rank. She deserves the praise. She shows us all that you don’t need huge cc and tons of horses to travel great journeys. I, for one, am so glad I sold my 1200cc Yamaha tourer and bought an old BSA 500 cc single back to life. She has put the smile on my face as Dhanno has yours. Finally, talking of smiles, I could “see” your face when you saw the llamas 🦙. It was like seeing kittens playing. Loved this video. Take care, ride safe and big 👍🏻 Geoff

@@charlest9884 haha, yes and the cost of a new brake lever would be more than a wheel on the Enfield. He did Alaska in winter and slept at the side of the road in minus 30.
