It's got a 4.10 in it now, ive got a 3.55 on the way. Anything lower will be to low for the Honda engine

i think s3 uses haldex which is fwd mounted you’d need a dsg from a bmw or an s4

It's the e9x transmission. I'm honestly not sure if it came out of a 335 or m3, but it's got the m3 GTS firmware on it to work with maxxecu

Once it's DCT, it's M3. 335's came with a regular automatic

@@TheForresterOD that's not correct you can get 335 and 135 with a 7 speed Dct that is a different transmission with different can protocol

@@TurbineResearch had to go do some research. Turns out the 335iS could be equipped with a DCT. Thanks for the correction, I learned something today

@@TheForresterOD actually most of the e9x cars came with dct from factory except for the e90. It was an option in europe mid 2009. its most likely using a inline 6 dct because the m3 bell housing is huge.

It's generally accepted that they will hold 750ft/lbs no problem

@@ubiased23 it's on because the maxxecu does not communicate with the stock gauge cluster. That has long since been replaced with an Aim digital display

@@jdoggsgarage4494 oh so it runs everything, cool. Would it work with AP1’s after being converted to FBW? And did you have to make any modifications to the transmission tunnel?

@@karry8997 yeah it'll work fine in an ap1, converting to drive by wire is pretty simple. You do have to add some clearance to the tunnel but no cutting is required. Maxxecu controls everything

he's running it through MaxxEcu which also controls his engine. it supports several transmissions.

I may talk about that in a future video. But basically the reason I like the maxxecu solution is the extreme ease of install and the cost. I've worked with a couple of htg cars and they didn't do anything better. The install for htg is a huge pain and it will add several thousand dollars to the swap.

@@jdoggsgarage4494 Thank you for the response. I noticed your dash wasn't working with the maxxecu, is this a permanent thing or was it just not set up? Also what did you do in terms of mounting the transmission to the factory transmission mounts?

@@andomort this video was about 10 minutes after I got the car working. You'll see in later videos that everything works except for some warning lights that the maxx can not control. For the transmission mount I just built a pretty simple crossmember that attaches to the factory mounting locations and uses the s2000 rubber transmission mounts to hold the dct transmission. The adapter plate and flywheel are from Xperformance.

@@jdoggsgarage4494 If you had to give an estimate, what would you say it would cost for the swap with maxxecu vs htg, including buying the ecu and stuff.

Since the maxxecu controls the engine as well it's hard to say exactly if you already have a standalone or what your situation is, but the htg gcu is around $1400, the domiworks pcb and wiring kit is $700, I think they charge $1400 if you send them the bmw mechatronics unit. The maxxecu harness is $600 I think, it just plugs right in, no modifications to the transmission are necessary

Broke 2 stock transmissions in a month. The other transmission options are terrible or cost $8000

@@jdoggsgarage4494 wow okay, i think your the first. Never heard of anybody putting a autobox in..... I see 4 5 600hp S2000 turbos with the manual boxes. And they dont blow up they must strengthen them. What auto box do u have.. Fairplay

If you'll notice the other video's here, everything is working. This was the initial testing. The s2000 speed sensor is built into the transmission, just like every other honda. The bmw transmission does not have a speed sensor built in. It's getting wheel speed via can bus from the abs module. At this time I had not wired things up to transmit to the dash.
