As a normal user, we might not even be able to tell the difference in quality between the iPhone 14 Pro and Samsung S23 Ultra. The companies are always trying to make us believe that there is a huge difference in the quality of their cameras, but it's just a marketing strategy to make us buy more. Most of us don't need high-quality pictures for our daily use, and even the historical pictures were made by film cameras, and we still enjoy them to this day. It's not always about having the latest and greatest technology, but rather about capturing the moments that matter to us. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this camera comparison.

Absolutely not. just cropped into a 200mp photo and the comparison against the standard 12mp is absolutely no competition. Love being able to take a really large photo and crop to whatever part of the photo I like best. it gives me a lot more freedom to edit like I do with my DSLR.
@christiandoninger5951
@christiandoninger5951 Жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s much better than 12mp when cropping in. But I couldn’t see a real difference from 200mp to 50mp mode on the s23. But the 48mp pro raw fotos from iPhone are even better when cropping in. When I compared both, I could read some small texts far away with iPhones 48mp foto and in 200mp Foto from Samsung it was unreadable.
@daidalos1508
@daidalos1508 Жыл бұрын
@@christiandoninger5951 50mp mode in pro raw is comparable to the 48mp apple Mode. The default 50/200 or 12 is just no pixel binning, 4/1 and 16/1 binning with Post processing and compression. 50mp pro raw with .dng files is 4 to 1 binning with no processing. A litte bit confusing for the normal user. Just check out the file size between the modes lol. 50mp pro raw makes 120mb images while the default 50/200 Mode makes 2,5 MB or 12 MB

@Christian Doninger I notice a difference in bright daylight. Took a photo of my airplane in the middle of the day with all 3 modes, and the finer details are more visible with the 200mp compared to the 50mp. The worse the light gets though, the more negligible the improvement. 50mp I'd say is the best all-around mode for the main camera during the daytime
@deadlyalliance8281
@deadlyalliance8281 Жыл бұрын
The 12mp binned photos on the Samsung produce impressive results when the light is less than stellar. For daytime shots, the 50mp is a excellent balance between giant amounts of detail and dynamic range. This phone covers all aspects of photography. (coming from an previous S21 ultra user). Even the S23 ultras low light video is much improved over past iterations. It's quite impressive honestly.

@@ItsTomRich yeah. I'm typing on my 23 ultra right now. It's a great improvement. Top 3 improvements are. Low light video, video Stabilization, and the amount of detail you can capture in a 50mp jpeg file alone(nevermind with 200mp mode) without it being a huge file.(not in that order) The 50 mp files are overflowing with detail really. Battery life and low light photography are good improvements as well. Samsung really shines with the s23 series. If iPhone 14 pro is a 10/10 for video, this is easily like a 9.4 or so. It's... Right up there with it. I believe it's the new stabilization that helps keep alot of the detail intact when panning in videos. I always thought Samsung and all other Android phones had that issue, until now. It's all clear and crispy, like It should be
@neilmcguinness4422
@neilmcguinness4422 Жыл бұрын
Indeed @Deadly Alliance it is the improvement in low light and indoor video on my new S23 Ultra over my previous Exynos S21Ultra that has impressed me the most. No more rampant noise and mushy detail dropout. I have noticed that they have upped the low light video bitrate on the 23U over the 21U from @41Mbit/sec to @70Mbit/sec, so video is much more detailed now and impressive. This, coupled with pixel binning, explains to a large extent this massive improvement.

@@neilmcguinness4422 mhmm I'm curious as to how theyve achieved this with such a high megapixel sensor for video. Can they bin in video too?
@neilmcguinness4422
@neilmcguinness4422 Жыл бұрын
@@deadlyalliance8281 Yes they are binning for video and doing it a lot better than they did with the old 108Mp sensor on my S21U for example, which video wise could do nothing with it's poor bitrate and the Exynos 2100 chip, which was a very good chip overall but did nothing for the phones video quality. I agree that the S23 Ultra is still a little behind the IPhone 14PM in video quality as this phone has supernatural noise control, but at least they are both finally on the same page. This is good for Apple consumers, as the IPhone 15 Pro Max will need to put improved video on it's to do list to keep Samsung at bay.

0:55 I don't get it when people say we shouldn't compare the s23 to the ip14 because they are released on different years. They are only 5 months apart, both using 2022 flagship chipsets. It's a much more fair comparison than the 7 month gap s23 and iphone 15. Was it unfair when Vivo X90 pro+ is being compared to the s23U? X90 was also released last year. Same as pixel 7 pro, or Xiaomi 13 pro, or even the Huawei Mate 50 pro. They are all fair comparisons since they are all released in the same generation.

Great comparison, Although you should really play with the 8k30 the samsung does, its actually quite brilliant in terms of quality, doesnt oversharpen it. Colors are more natural and no crop. Plus its lowlight is very good too! Pretty much same noise as the 4k. Im aware 8k isnt super useful atm, but its becoming more and more relevant, plus if you shoot 8k and export at 4k resolution youll still likely end up with a far nicer looking video than just shooting normal 4k due to the less processing it does. Which I think might actually take the win for video!

Taking the S23 Ultra and IPhone 14 Pro Max, they are both damn fine devices that appeal to their own operating system fanbase with good reason. 1:04 I don't think anyone agrees with this to be true. Apple always releases their phones early to get it into the new year and the Christmas season. The iPhone 14 pro Max is technically their competitor for 2023 and the iPhone 15 ultra will be their competitor for 2024. So it's not "last year's offering". That the iPhone 14 pro competes with the S23 ultra? That has a chip released in November 2021? Obviously not... launching in the same year does not mean that they are competitors, but when it launched the chips (phone brains) The iphone 15 pro will compete with the S24 ultra, as it will be launched in September of this year with a new chip that will compete with the chip that will be in the S24 ultra, the 8gen3 that will launch 2 months later... @@ItsTomRich one reason could be when one uploads videos to KZfaq since they compress the videos so much? Most use 1440p to 4K even on 1080p to get better bit rate (or they could have changed it last year, i´m stuck in my habits of putting everything on 4K on my 1440p monitor🙃)

@@ItsTomRich Good day, Tom. Your response just seemed to come across as putting a negative spin on a rather impressive and positive feature on said device which many reviewers have only praised, and it would seem simply for the sake of bias or promoting the other and could be seen as malicious when you say something that could put people off buying a device in favour of the other, are asked why and then say "Honestly it's not even that, I just don't personally find 8K a necessary thing". I can completely see where Blake is coming from. Now, I can think of why the 8K could be noisier, and something which may or may not be true and which may or may not be visible in your video due to KZfaq compression if said statement is true. Perhaps the 4K mode uses on-the-fly alrogrithms that employ the use of pixel binning and apply that to the video to increase dynamic range and reduce noise in a similar way to photos, but this may not be possible in 8K due to it being much more demanding to process, the noise reduction may be toned down in software too on top of all of this and it may just not be available on the sensor level at 8K. However, this could be demonstrated in a blown-up circle of a portion of your video next time to show that it is indeed something that you see visible and strong enough to warrant not using it for yourself personally. Now, I do not want you to think I'm saying you ARE wrong or right, and thus I do not want you to think I am attacking you in any sort of way. Some of us just love these in-depth things as much as you yourself do, possibly even more, and enjoy a genuine answer to a question. I can understand from your point of view too, however. Perhaps on this particular day you were tired and didn't have the energy to explain something in detail. That, too, is fine, and personally completely understandable. However, do remember if you make a statement to back it up in a suitable manner otherwise people being people these days can take it negatively and try and take credibility away from your work which may or may not be justified depending on what is happening. I'm simply saying I can see the viewpoint of both you and Blake here. I am writing this in the hopes that you see this and understand it is purely for your sake and that content going forward is even better and a few pointers I feel that will help you on your journey to even better content even if it is a small pointer, as we are all always learning and constructive criticism is always appreciated, at least I like to think. Have a lovely day and I look forward to more videos and content my friend.

@ItsTomRich But you can activate filters (the icon looking like a wizard) and configure the strength to your liking, for instance, the filter 'Cool'. They are available in photo and video mode and can be saved permanently as your default color temperature (or name it schema, you got my point). @@ivanosijek2306 I think they completely switched to "sharability". Interestingly, most reviewers have accepted this in the meantime. A friend of mine posts photos on Instagram. He uses a professional Sony whatever (I don't know the exact modell name), but he edits each single photo before posting, and none of the edited photos has colors which have nothing in common with real life colors. It is all about sharing in the meantime. Therefore, the idea of using filters (styles). I mean the way Samsung allows you to save them as default makes it pretty easy to use.

Wife has the 14 Pro Max, I got the S23U. The S23U is certainly more versatile, and after many days of testing side by side I say the S23U has the edge in hardware performance. Slightly better low light performance, even video, while there is more noise and some lack of tuning from softw side, the detail and dynamic range is a bit better. Perhaps matter of taste too. 14Pro Max wins in capturing moving things. Pets, children etc is a struggle for S23U. Often get a shutter laged shot with it. Rarely so with iPhone. A nice thing Samsung dialed the 'vibrancy look' back with this. Coming from previous Samsung phones this tuning was pretty severe before. Now to me it looks so that most of the times S23U is closer to real thing than 14PM. 14 PM is 25% too cold and sterile. S23U is 15% to vibrant and saturated. Samsung has some work to still do on the software side. The night video noise, dark photos without night mode get extra warm and the moving picture thing should capture a crisp photo from an animal or kid moving around. The short of it is the old story: iPhone is better for lazy people. It gets you a great shot without thought. Samsung gets a better shot with some effort.

if you haven't known, you can reduce the shutter lag by a considerable amount for the S23U using Camera Assistant. i dont know why it's not just baked into the camera app natively, but it is an option so you should look into that!
