The revival of the most sought after HHKB? The HG HHKB was their 10th anniversary special release. Since then this board has been sought after by many keyboard enthusiasts and collectors around the world.
This is the replica/inspired of the HG HHKB made by SHO. He is a designer who has recently entered the custom keyboard market. He has been releasing various types of topre housings at a much more affordable price point; and has been nothing more than great to the community of keyboard enthusiasts. The S60 HG houses a HHKB Pro 2 only. Unlike other aftermarket housings such as the Heavy Grail by Norbauer which uses a proprietary integrated plate, similar to the original HHKB. This requires the use of topre housings such as the realforce housings that are commonly sourced from another donor board. However, these days they can be easily purchased from deskeys which sells aftermarket topre parts (Housings, sliders, domes,.etc.)
The S60 HG built in this video uses a brass plate but there will be more options during the GB. The board is top mount but does not bottom out as hard as a regular mx top mount board due to the nature of the topre domes.
In the video 0.3mm silencing rings were used over 0.5mm silencing rings as I wanted to retain the tactility of the topre domes. 0.5mm silencing rings will provide you with a quieter feedback on the keyboard and will also reduce the travel distance and tactility of the topre domes. These comes to personal preference.. there is also the option to go without silencing rings.
Overall, the board feels really good to type on for long hours, and just like all hhkb's this thocccsssssss! Listen to the left shift, enter and spacebar on the S60 HG. I really like how it sounds. As for the spacebar, I apologize that the wires on it are ticking. If you have modded hhkb's before, you should know that the wires are rng hahaha (maybe I'm just bad at it). I'll try to fix it in the near future but apart from the ticking noise, it still retains that deep sounding spacebar that you can hear on a regular hhkb.
