Im confused why is it there are plenty of characters that never appeared in season 1 of the anime animated like this. Unless they were in the intros and outros for the anime. Prinz Heinrich for example, Bismarck as well as she only had 2 technically 3 appearances in the first season as well as "Azur lane slow ahead.".

She was built in Hamburg, which while still in Germany, it's still very close to Norway. Also her sister, the Tirpitz, was sunk in Norway.

Bismarck are german. The best what german engineering ever build 😢. And Tirpitz her sister whas the Lonely queen of the north. That is complete point of torpedoes. Sever a swimmer's spine and she drowns. AL shipgirls are often tragic because they are encoded with memories of their deaths, whether purely mechanical, previous shipgirl versions, or if they're really unlucky both.

Actually... No It's because The head of the German navy felt that Bismarck was too powerful and warlike to merely have the title of 'she' Which is a crock of ass if you ask me but whatever

Actually, in the German language all ships have female denominations. So it is indeed _die Bismarck_ (female) and not "der Bismarck" (male), or "das Bismarck" (neuter) when referreing to the ship! Same goes for every other ship: _Die Prinz Eugen, die SMS Erzherzog Karl, die USS Enterprise, die HMS Queen Elizabeth, die Yamato, etc._ Every ship is female

@@nickyliu8762this is true, especial since a lit of german warships are named after warheroes. Prinz Eugen, Grafspee, Scharnhorst and Gneisenau, even Bismarks Sister Tirpitz is named after a man. This He thing a misunderstanding, as far as I know. Her Captain is alleged to have said, that they should call Bismark "he" but I dont think that ever happend in an official capacity. Or so I have heared.. :D

I'm really sad that they genderbent Bismarck for Azur Lane. It was a great opportunity for the harem tag. Only male ship in the world at the time. Chased by the whole of the Royal Navy. Would have made for great scenes in the anime.

Not really, while the name was male all German ships are female. This is a long tradition that to my knowledge has not been broken.
