and still laughed about it. they were supposed to retreat to the capital, however the Luftwaffe had destoryed the telephone lines, so the 40 brave men decided to honour their last order, which was to hold the border at all costs. And they did so well, it enabled to the Allies to become aware that the Nazis were advancing through the Ardennes rather than through the Maginot Line
