I often get emotional when I hear this song.. From the sad, lonely violin/cello at the start all the way through, this song, to me, symbolizes perfectly the inhuman horror that was WW1. The Angels called the names of all the poor souls who fell there, they called them home... To a better place. I don't know if it's my faithful side speaking or what here, but this song... It calls to me on a level I can hardly comprehend. Being of the opinion that indeed "He who ignores the past is doomed to repeat it" I read up on history a fair bit. It's a huge part of why I love Sabaton, too. Sabaton sing not of sides or politics. They sing of the survivors and fallen, the civilians and the soldiers. They are the ones who keep history alive in an era of all too much censorship and ignorance. Sabaton is a shining beacon of the best that music can be: Touching, Hyped up, Sad and Happy alike depending on the song, with a very necessary dose of reality to boot in the history behind the music. Anyhow, . Thank you, Sabaton, for all the good you do! My greatest hopes, my deepest respect and my prayers are with you, as long as I draw breath.

@@lincoln668 there is a lot more instrumental only bits which kind of make me dislike it for me. It just feels unfinished, like there is missing lyrics to me. Otherwise it feels like a good song. Not sure if that is why everyone else skips past it, that is my own opinion.

It almost seems like for the album itself, the songs 'Great War' and 'The End of the War to End All Wars' were the two biggest first-person stand-outs of talking about the effects of war and being an absolute hell without being political. And then....you get 'Angels Calling'; the final piece of the golden puzzle that you never knew existed.

I gotta say Joakim’s singing is at it’s best on this tour. Plus I love how the other boy’s backing vocals are mixed. In previous live releases I thought they were always too quiet, but here they sound really loud and nice and in terms of power of backing vocals, it’s getting much closer to the studio releases, which is absolutely amazing. I’d love to see an official live release with sound like this. I heard they recorded the show in Prague (which I was supposed to be at, but couldn’t make it ), so if they released the Prague show + Wacken 2019, it would be absolutely fantastic!

This is one of my favorite Sabaton songs. But I also thought of another potential spin one could put on it. For the Warhammer 40K fans in the audience, imagine the beginning as a lone guardsman staring down the forces of chaos, locked in a war of attrition. However, the “angels” that are calling his name are the Astartes reinforcements falling from their drop pods or jump packs to smash into the enemy lines and break the stalemate
