Sabb 2G 22hp marine engine for a narrowboat eventually!

This Sabb 2G marine engine has come from a fishing boat two years ago. This is a first attempt at starting it up. It will eventually be cleaned and painted and put into a narrowboat. Despite its age (1976) it has only done a thousand hours.

1000 hours is barely used, there is a ferry in bergen norway that have a sabb that is over 95000 hours over 40 years in ser vice

I need help. I have recently acquired a boat with this 2G model SABB. Can someone please tell me how to stop it. At the moment the only way to do it is to use the decompression lever on the top. This is a most undesirable way to stop a diesel engine. We can't throttle back far enough to stall, and blocking the air intake doesn't work either. Any help will be appreciated.

The way to stop is to throtle back all the way back. throttle settings is off if this does not work.

Hello. Do you understand the repair of this machine? We use this machine on a lifeboat. But our machine failed and we couldn't solve the problem. The problem is that the machine runs continuously at high speed and the machine does not stop when we pull the stop lever. The control wire connected to the machine does not adjust. What can be the problem for you
