The issue of immigration has caused tension between South Africa and other SADC Countries with government facing pressure from South Africans who are struggling to access services.
The recent video and audio from Limpopo MEC of Health, Dr Phophi Ramathuba and ANC National Chairperson Gwede Mantashe are a clear indication that South Africa is experiencing huge challenges.

This is crazy! Lets say that the South African govt has declared publicly that the Zimbabwean govt was at fault, what would that have changed in Zimbabwe? To try and make South Africa a United States of America that can tell others what to do and sanction them; or even bomb them is crazy. Botswana did declare publicly that the Zimbabwean govt was at fault, but that did not change anything in Zimbabwe. Yes South Africa must speak indiscriminately against any wrong doing, but to want to throw the burden of Zimbabwe to South Africa, as if it was South Africa that told the ZANU-PF to abuse its citizens is totally not on. Why not blame the SADC and especially Zimbabwe for been silence about the corruption of the South African govt? We are not involving anyone in our problems nor blaming others, so Zimbabweans must stop the babysitting mentality; anticipating that South Africa to solve their problems. They must solve it by themselves. We, South Africans, against all odds, through Put South Africans First, Operation Dudula and Soweto Parliament, fought for our people and government to stop allowing the breaking of our laws in immigration, labour and business, we did not call for the SADC and ask them to make the South African govt respect our immigration laws, labour and business laws. We pushed hard even when the very same media ( SABC included) labelled us xenophobia for calling for the laws of this country to be respected.

Fair points made, brother. However, the South African government has made repeated attempts to present itself internationally as a power broker. On Russia and Ukraine, for example, the SA government has offered mediation. That's the biggest story in the world now, and SA through its hat in the ring. As a continental powerhouse, South Africa can't shy away from its responsibility to at least try to stabilise its neighborhood. Ultimately, instability in the region impacts South Africa directly, whether economically, socially or on the security dimension. Mozambique's recent issues in Cabo Delgado - and the deaths of a few South Africans there - clearly prove this. Of course, that's not to say that SA has a magic bullet for all ails in the region, but she does certainly have at least some responsibility to influence the politics of neighboring states to be more democratic and less corrupt. I'm from Swaziland, and watched in shock as this regional behemoth couldn't even bring to order a despotic man-child and butcher in traditional regalia masquerading as a head of state in 2021. Swaziland is a tiny country, but SADC - and a politically, economically, militarily powerful South Africa - couldn't do anything, even as tens were butchered on the streets in SD. Instances like this, and Mnangagwa operating with inpunity in Zim - erodes SA's credibility on the world stage. Maybe I'm wrong, though, and I stand ready to be corrected, but with great power comes great responsibility. That's just how the world works, I guess.

Please note I'm not ANC or EFF supporter but DA always blame ANC for their failures and ANC is blaming Apartheid for their failures and both parties don't want to take responsibility for their actions. For example the National Minister of Police who doesn't know he's job description was reading the statistics yesterday but he didn't even give us the stats for white collar crime, his focus is on murder, GBV and etc only. People want politicians and people who are in private sector that committ crime behind bars. People in Eastern Cape continue to vote for ANC except for change. This is crazy! What about the quite deplomacy of SADC about the corruption of the South African govt? I mean we have no Eskom, DENEL, Prasa etc are dying. We have cable theft and the fall of the South African economy is the fall of the SADC, what has the SADC or Zimbabwe said against corruption in this country? At least there is a quite diplomacy on Zim, the SADC has no policy on the problems of South Africa, crime corruption and illegal immigration. SADC has no powers over other SADC members when it comes to how they run their countries. You are lied to by the west, which bombs and sanctions other countries. We have no such policy, for SADC to intervene politically on other members state govts, all member states must agree and have clause to that effect, there is none, thus they came up with a quite deplomacy because the world is pressurising them to act when they have no mandate to do so. Right now, Botswana and Namibia unilaterally and wrongly so defied the SADC agreement and blocked the imports on fruits from South Africa. So what do you exepct South Africa to do, go and bomb these countries? Hayi maan! We need to think before we buy to the western propaganda. The only organisation that has a mandate on the political issues is suppose to be the AU, unfortunately it is useless unless its an Africa Day Celebration.

@@ntombi3171 Mbeki would not have changed a thing in Zimbabwe, unless you are suggesting that South African Army should have attacked Zimbabwe. Here is North Korea, who changed it with what? I mean there UN, and the west barks at it every second and it is still the as north as it was in the 50’s. Tell me @Ntombi, what would Mbeki have done that would have changed a sovereign state like Zimbabwe? You are lied to and we are recycling the lie as if we have a policy in this country or in the SADC of forcing sovereign countries to do what we want them to. There is nothing like that, to try and think that we are a super power in the SADC is totally crazy. South Africa and the SADC has no such mandate. Botswana under all its former Presidents, from Masire in the 80’s to Mogae have been critical of the Zimbabwean govt and it never changed a thing, instead under the former President Ian Khama they almost went to war. So please stop repeating the Zimbabweans’ excuses for failing to solve their problems and then blame the world for that. What you can call for is that the SADC should have a mandate to intervene when the elections are not free and fair, or that it has to run the elections of all the SADC nations and have military powers against a govt that doesnt want to relinqusih power after it lost the elections; however, that too, will depend on the very same members states if they would like such a clause or not. Zimbabwe is like a family, it has to resolve its problems itself and stop involving everyone or blaming everyone for its failures. Cameroon is not blaming the ECOWAS but they find their ways to fights to solve their problems. So was Mali, it did not go back and forth for 28 years blaming its neighbours and the ECOWAS, they solved their problems. Guinea Conarkry called the East Africa Community to resolve the problem of their then president Alpha Conde, at the age of 82, unilaterally changing the constitution so that he can have a third term. The East Africa Community like the SADC did not have a mandate to stop Konde, so he changed the constitution, arrested the opposition and some were killed, then he rigged the elections, the people of Guinea changed the situation and the soldiers eventually helped them and he was removed. All these countries and many more they do not cry for their neighbours to babysit them, but work towards a change themselves. I mean the late Mwanawasa of Zambia did criticize Mugabe publicly, that did not change Mugabe’s dictatorship. So hands off blaming us for the problems of other families, we have our own problems right now.

@@baliwemenyatso1824 it’s time for African countries to build there own infrastructure. Hospitals, roads bridges schools and anything that will allow society to function correctly. One phone call from South Africa is bringing I’ll Africans to South Africa for free treatment. No one is giving us aid we can pay for this. We should be able to bill various government in African, Pakistan, India , Bangladesh etc. you are going to cripple our health services and when they collapse, then what we will have nothing for everyone. This is wrong. Foreign nationals must pay upfront for medical services this is only right. We are even overloaded at our clinic giving out free HIV drugs. They are travelling from Zimbabwe and Mozambique so they can get free HIV drugs from our clinics despite the fact you have these drugs but you need to pay for it. This cannot carry on like this. You will bankrupt South Africa it is visiting us billions. It’s time for Britain to assist Zimbabwe and for Portugal to assist Mozambique. It cannot fall on our shoulders to fix there mess.

I think Zimbabweans voting behavior is just like South Africans we always vote for people who don't have our interest at heart and then cry about their poor performance and we then go back to our voting stations to keep them in office and come back continue to cry until Jesus comes back . I really don't know what to make of this type of behavior. May be we should just suck it up we deserve it 🤔
