Oh man, I remember this! My parents used to show me the old version when I was little! I haven’t seen much about the reboot, but I agree, it looks HORRENDOUS. I loved the style of line art, the stories, and the lobster guy, and it seems like they just destroyed everything I loved in the old one.

I love how we lost the og tall woman no-face icon Miss Bellum for "potentially being offensive" even though her entire thing is that she was commentary on women being only seen for their sexual appeal/body, being literally named after a part of the brain, described as being the "brains of the operation", portrayed as very very smart and capable, and literally squared up with a powerful supervillain Sedusa by herself. But we get this, whatever this is.

I don't understand cartoon networks beef with ms. Bellum. She was a smart, attractive,sophisticated women who was confident in her body. She looked like a "bimbo" yet was actually very smart. She's a delightful role model. I find characters like that far more empowering than some of the more stereotypical "female role models"

There is no beef. They just didnt understand the character. They just fell for the punch line, ironically by removing her because of her body when the joke was the fact that she was intelligent and opinionated but you couldn't see her face. Just her chest and legs.

One thing about the reboot that was shown in this review is how week the Powerpuff Girls are. In the original the girls were incredibly powerful. They could take on anything and when they were losing it was to incredibly powerfull villains like the Rowdyruff Boys and Him. In the reboot, the girls are constantly captured by things they should easily get out of or even injured by things that never injured them in the past. In this episode specifically, Blossom and Bubbles were trapped in a giant pet cage when they should've easily been able to break out of it. But no, they had to give some sort of excuse to get Buttercup over being very musclely

Actually in that episode Buttercup was NOT out of shape. In fact if you look at her, she was actually buff'd to the MAX... which is a problem IRL that some people who do bodybuilding go too far with their musclebuilding and actually get so muscular that they have problems moving around normally.

I've seen shows that didn't know how to write little girls, but I don't think I've ever seen a show that HATED little girls as much as this one does. They interpreted a girl that was driven and intelligent as neurotic and bossy. They interpreted a girl that was innocent but thoughtful as ditzy and selfish. And they interpreted a girl that was confident and strong as a mean-spirited bully.

Blossom was a good leader who made mistakes sometimes. Bubbles was sweet and caring but tough. Buttercup was hardcore and confident but had insecurities. They were actually good characters, but the reboot completely axed them.

Miss Bellum, Sarah Bellum, as in Cerebellum, a part of the brain. The whole point of the character is that everyone around her only sees a pretty body when she's actually extremely intelligent (which is also why you never see her face). She was an expertly written piece of social commentary.

Thank you for taking one for the team!! I was tempted to give new Powerpuff and chance for lastest season after only seeing the first few episodes and new Powerpuff. I hated those episodes I saw. I hated this show so much. It not Powerpuff girls. It just some random annoying girls that have powers but don't even use it. You take words out of my mouth. Your sacrifice will not be in vain. I was just about to comment about the superhero episode when you brought it up first- I personally love that episode, even though I can't really remember it. I just love superhero episodes in cartoons in general, I love seeing the ideas the show creators have for super heroes, that episode and the Kim Possible one in particular. (Since those two are the only ones I can remember off the top of my head)

In an episode of the original PPG show called Mo Job, there was a scene where Mojo Jojo blasted Princess Morbucks and gave her super powers and there was a scene of her becoming muscular. Nobody complained about that.

I remember when this show first came up. My brother and I actually liked it. The animation looked alright, it was funny enough. Then we watched a few more episodes and never turned to Cartoon Network again for the next month.

The writers are really ignorant about the gym. To gain muscles, it's from eating protein and obviously exercise. To lose muscles, you actually stop eating as much but same amount of exercise.

I think dehydration also plays a factor in losing muscles (or at least some form of weight). I've seen videos pertaining to boxing and MMA where the fighter didn't drink for an extended period in order to make weigh in.

It's part of the reason Chris Evans stepped down as Cap; playing Steve meant doing pretty much every shot dehydrated.

I grew up with Totally Spies and ICarly/Victorious so I'm (strangely, unfortunately?) well versed in writers putting in odd fetish material, and even this was too much. Totally Spies was way more subtle with their inflation tropes and muscle growth plots which is such an odd thing I didn't know could even be screwed up.

A lot of people trash on the Ben 10 reboot, but I argue that it's actually better than Alien Force and Ultimate Alien. Is it perfect? No, there's some major issues that I wish were fixed but unfortantaly never were. Is is the same type of reboot like Teen Titans Go and PPG 2016? No.

I thought Season 2 and 3 were excellent, but I think the Ben 10 Reboot improved the original show (meaning the first one), fixing elements I thought dragged the original down a lot. Like I said, is it perfect? No, but it's still an enjoyable watch, and, unlike the other Cartoon Network reboots, respects what came before it.

Exactly. Sara Bellum’s name is literally a play on Cerebellum, a part of the brain. The character was ALWAYS written to be smart and strong. While the mayor was officially in charge, she usually called the shots and made him think it was his idea. She was cool and much more of a feminist icon than any of these y/n style wannabes that Hollywood pushes on us these days

I am in horror, I'm not joking. I'm in absolute horror in just seeing the thumbnail. And it's not deviantART fanart this time, this is from the godawful reboot. Just....what have they done to Buttercup!?! Oh my god! I never bothered to ever see the reboot knowing full well they fucked up the PPG but this image, will burn into my nightmares. I'm glad I never watched the reboot show, because I used to enjoy watching the original PPG growing up. I don't think I'll ever see them the same again.

Ya know this is one episode, right? I personally enjoy the reboot and later on especially it has pretty funny jokes. Again, don’t base your judgement for a multi season show on one episode. I mean, every show no matter how good has a bad episode, and this is one example of that.
