Neil Peart is Obsessed with sharing his experiences through words - like bicycling over the Alps (twice), the Pyrenees and the Rockies, and throughout West Africa. And since '96, he has traveled to every RUSH show, from Berlin to Buenos Aires, by motorcycle. Neil is also Obsessed with his 22" Paragon Ride. With its powerful, cutting bell and amazing expressive ability even at low dynamic levels, this is a cymbal that inspires.

He's such an intelligent man who's been through hell and back. Most people wouldn't have gotten back up after losing their entire family like he did. This guy deserves nothing but 100% respect, not only as an artist, but as a human being.

Back in the 90's I was working in this little roadside cafe just north of San Antonio and this man comes walking in wearing full riding leathers & taking off his helmet. I INSTANTLY thought, "That guy looks just like Neil Pert!?" Why in the world would he be here in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the day? A few years later I found out about his North American Motorcycle tour which he wrote a book about. He was here when I thought I saw him! It really is a small world!

I had a similar thing happen backstage at a “the Chainsmokers” concert in San Diego when I saw someone who resembled Tom Delonge of blink 182. I didn’t even make the San Diego connection and a few days later the band put out a Vlog and it was Tom backstage. I felt stupid.

I am a truck driver from Halifax, Nova Scotia, I have delivered to the Sabian factory quite a few times. I have pictures of the plant, and have had a tour there. I have talked to the guys who made his cymbals. Some of them have motorcycles and Neil had his there as well, so the workers got the day off and spent it riding with him. They told me Neil was the most kindest, humble person they've ever met.

I can’t help but feel a heavy heart watching this. I’ve been watching neils videos on KZfaq for a while and have hoped at some point he’d show his face again in an interview or musical performance after retiring. It really sucks that he is passed on now.... watching this now makes it feel like he is still alive....Neil was such a inspiring individual. Miss you professor...

By far one of my favorite Neil Peart interviews. These are his passionate obsessions, He has been probably the biggest influence in my life not just as a drummer, but all he has been through and has lost and overcome. He has been a pillar of strength in how he chose to overcome those life circumstances. The more I listen to him the less I watched him play because he has more to say then he does to express on drums, to me, I don't play like him, but you can hear his influence in my playing. Every interview I have watch and watched again, I always walked away with something new. Just an amazing man and all he has had to shoulder and overcome, all he has experience and has shared. Honestly, probably one of the most influential artist ever. Once you hear him play, once you hear him talk about life, you become obsessed.

Only specualtion but he didn't seem the type of person to allow himself to get hard and bitter in order to deal with the huge personal tragedies that must have been overwhelming. What a character to pick himself up every day and find something to give him solace. As an afterlife believer I can't think of anyone right now I'd wish more happiness for in the next one. Much love Neil

Clockwork Angels is not shit, good sir. It is absolutely amazing and certainly on par with 2112 (which I consider their stellar album). I have seen Rush twice during the Clockwork Angels Tour - why don't you put on a pair of headphones and listen to Caravan, The Wreckers, The Anarchist, Seven Cities of Gold, Headlong Flight, the Garden and of course Clockwork Angels. In these tunes you'll hear Rush at their best yet - they continue to amaze me. These boys can still rock out!!

Neil Peart is a master communicator that infuses our brains with impressive realms of analytical language. The manner in which he parallels his drum treatment to language construct is intriguing. Just listening to his use of vocabulary, articulate analogies, and abstract mental journeys is captivating. We may feel the sting of a retired musician but the world continues to reap a window to brilliance with his literary works.

Although life happens to us all, Neil seems to keep the drama that affects most rock stars to a much lower key. I liked how he told of staying in touch with humanity rather the cloisture or the tour. Helping him keep a balance. Kudos to you Neil. Your a breath of fresh air.

A temporary cosmetic problem with his nose? That's all you took away from this incredibly generous video? So, the whole bit about his self-education and self-development -- decade after decade ... His love of people, life and the instrument ... The way he dealt with the loss of his wife ... The way, as legendary as he is, he sought out Peter Erskine to take his playing to the next level ... The humility, professionalism, depth, breadth ... Boy, you missed a lot of lessons here.

Several have commented on this, but it is curious that Sabian was cool with the whole backing track being the original studio version of Subdivisions which was performed on Zildjians. And it is a bit misleading because uninitiated viewers might think his current Sabians sound like that. Unfortunately they don't. To my taste his Sabians are too heavy and clangy. Especially the hats and ride. But obviously that's a matter of taste. They are beautiful though. And the drums are gorgeous.
