Super easy tutorial on how to create your own "Like Glassine bags" they may not be exactly glassine bags but they are pretty darn close.
You will need to cut your parchment paper down to:
9 1/4 x 8' squares
Score at 2 1/4 and 6 3/4

You can buy glassine paper by the roll on Amazon. Parchment paper has Teflon on it, which is why it is hard to get tape and coffee to stick to it. I like what you did. Good idea! TFS

I found this link that explains a bit. I would say you can make glassine substitute bags from parchment, wax paper, or freezer paper depending on what you plan to do with the bags. If you’re using for journals, I would test small pieces of the paper with the mediums you plan to use to see if they adhere. If for food use (as the pic on those glassine bags you showed, suggests), is the food greasy at all? Glassine paper is made to resist oils. Glassine envelopes are often used to hold stamps when you purchase them from the post office. I surmise it’s so the stamps doesn’t stick to the envelope if they get any moisture on them. All of the papers I mentioned above are for food use initially, but wax paper and freezer paper isn’t meant for heat because the wax layer would melt, so you wouldn’t use those to line a cookie sheet as you would with parchment baking paper (I mention this because I knew of someone who confused them and it made a smoky mess in their oven, plus a fire hazard). I have used all these papers in my art projects, because I love to experiment with what I have on hand. Sorry if TMI, I’m an information junkie ;-) www.thepackagingcompany.com/knowledge-sharing/waxed-bags-vs-glassine-bags-whats-the-difference/ PS- I was also thinking you could use tracing paper and pattern making paper and I believe those come on rolls which are more economical. I like them because they’re translucent and would be a nice layering addition to a journal, collage, or most any mixed media project.

@@SabrinaOreskovicCraftySabby I mostly wrote that info for anyone else who may happen to see it. I’m sure you’ve played a lot since your originally created this video. I love the idea that a crafter can create any size bags she (or he) may need and using different materials based on what they have on hand or access to. :-)

Thanks for sharing the option of using parchment or wax paper and the embossing suggestion. I am going to cut my paper slightly larger and run it through my printer with a digital download. I will then trim to your suggested measurements and assemble my bags from there. This will definitely allow for perfect direction of the layout and to capture the best sections of my image. It will also provide the option to create additional envelope sizes or tags from the remaining printout. Printing will then be on both sides of the bag and this method won't leave any heavy ink definition from a back and base seam! Can't wait to begin creating envelopes!

I watched your tutorial a while back and made them. They turned out great. I did find parchment paper that is a brown color at "The Christmas Tree Store" in USA. The difference between the materials is that Glassine is archival, that's why stamp or coin collectors use them . Wax paper is just that, waxed and parchment(baking) paper has a silicone coating to prevent sticking that's why your tape wont stick. BTW since you decorated the bag so nicely I don't even see the bag ,Lol.

Thankyou for a great tutorial. I have not bought the Glassine bags because of the price being on a very tight income, I will be giving these go, I bought a 90 meter roll of baking parchment from Aldi on one of special buy deals, anyway the parchment is a lot heavier than the small domestic rolls .I don't know if you have Gladbake parchment in the US but it's also a heavier parchment. Once again Thankyou a wonderful easy to follow tutorial... Xx

Try embossing your bag, but add a piece of card stock and it may not tear. I had an embossing folder that always tore the paper, but when I put two sheets through at the same time, then it didn't tear!!!

Sabrina what if you put a thin piece of copy paper on top and bottom of the parchment paper bag and then try running it through the cuddle bug and see if it still embossed it.
