Sabzi Wali Dal | Healthy Veg Dal Recipe | Sabji Dal Recipe | Mixed Sabzi Dal Recipe | Sabji Wali Dal | Sabzi Dal | Healthy Dal Recipe | How To Make Dal with Vegetables
Ingredients for Sabzi Dal:
(Tsp-Teaspoon; Tbsp-Tablespoon)
- Toor Dal - 1 cup or 200 gms
Tempering:
- Green cardamom - 3
- Cinnamon- 2 small pieces
- Cloves- 4
- Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
- Bay leaf - 2 small (or 1 big cut)
Vegetables:
- Beans, cut into 1” pieces- 12-14 (1/2 cup)
- Carrot, cut into 1” pieces- 2 medium (1/2 cup)
- Green peas- 1/2 cup
- Tomato, chopped- 1 small (60 gms)
- Green chillies, slit- 2
Other Ingredients:
- Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
- Ghee - 2-3 tbsp
- Salt- 1 tsp or to taste
- Sugar- 1 tsp
Preparation:
- Soak the Toor Dal for 15-30 mins.
- Chop the tomato & shell the green peas.
- Cut the beans and carrots.
Process:
- Take a pressure cooker & heat the ghee.
- Add the whole garam masala & when it splutters, add the cumin seeds & bay leaf.
- Mix it well & add the chopped tomatoes.
- Sauté the tomatoes for 2-3 mins till soft.
- Add the cut vegetables, mix well and add salt & turmeric powder.
- Mix well & sauté for 3-4 mins.
- Drain the water from the Toor Dal & add the dal. Mix and sauté for 2-3 mins.
- Now add the slit green chillies and sugar, give a mix & add 600 ml water.
- Give a stir & close the pressure cooker. Pressure cook for 2 whistles, 1st one on high heat and 2nd on low heat. Should take around 7-8 mins.
- Allow the pressure to release completely before opening the pressure cooker.
- You can add little water if required but not much since the consistency of the dal should be thick.

Though we add spices and all the needed ingredients ,vegetables, the core of a delicious cooking comes &not only food reaches the heart as ppl say but I believe (seen my grandmother's cooking ) I can humbly say good food comes delicious only from the person's ❤ heart and spice eats I have tried MANY of your dishes and it had stood out,and our family has enjoyed it thoroughly. Good evening Nafisa, how long if I cook it in a pot. Can't figure out how a pressure cooker works!!

Good Evening promeet! Easier option is to pressure cook as shown in the video . But If you want to cook in a pot, first of all soak the dal for longer time, say an hour. Follow the steps as shown in the video and cover & cook on low heat for 30-40 mins. Check a few times, give a stir and add water as & when necessary. The vegetables cook faster than the dal, so please check the consistency of the dal (should be little thick) and also the vegetables or else may become mushy. 😊👍🏻

Dal has to be one of THE most perfect meals - there is so many different ways to make it, you can suit everyone's tastes and preferences. Indeed, I'll be having dal for tea tonight myself (made with green peppers & green chillis). Always nice to see another dal recipe to try. Thank you. 🙂
