Sac river striper fishing. Sardines VS. Pile worms

Went out and did some striper fishing on the sac river this evening. Decided to compare Sardines and Pile worms since I was using both for bait!
GEAR-
Ugly Stik bigwater heavy 8" 2 piece rod
Penn Battle 5000 reel
25lb test line Trilene Big game

Been out there a lot lately. Trying to catch salmon before they hit Sac. Hadn’t thought about striper there! I use anchovies when I fish for striper. Mostly shaker, but some big ones. Been thinking of brining the bait to make it firm up more. Thanks for the video!

If you want to save time, you can fillet the fish at home and wrap them with the magic string. Just let the fish thaw out a little and prepare them all at home then refreeze them. It's a waste of time preparing the sardines at the bank plus it's way too messy. This will allow you to just keep replacing your sardine bait as soon as it has been eaten away by the little shakers.

Try mackerel hard to keep on the hook but it has a scent. Honestley anchovies are cheap and work just as good.cought a five foot stripper on anchovies

It’ll be more effective presentation if you thread that pile more toward the leader line instead of only top of the hook. That only take a couple of striper hit and your bait is gone. By few min, you just lost $13. I have more luck on Sardines but I have my own presentation how I setup my bait to hook up a monster Stripers. Great vids by the way. That spot used to be my old stomping ground 2 years ago.

Behind the highway patrol academy the main river always productive. The sloughs and ponds behind the academy are also good for blue gill and catfish. Good luck. I would recommend night fishing very productive and much bigger fish.
