Sacramento Light Rail - August 1999
The Sacramento RT Light Rail system, originally branded as RT Metro, (reporting mark SCRT) began operation March 12, 1987.
The "starter line" ran between Watt/I-80 and Butterfield stations.
In 1993, two infill stations were added on the existing RT Metro line: 39th Street and 48th Street.
In September 1998, the line was extended from Butterfield station to Mather Field/Mills station.

Awesome video!! I love when these 1990s on back videos are uploaded of the Sacramento light rail! I was born in 96 and remember the setup from the 1999 - 2002 before they really got into some major changes on the system. Between Swanston and Royal Oaks is now realigned and double tracked, Oxford St right before the Arden/Del Paso Station is now a crossing gate signal protected crossing, After the American River Highway 160 bridge Richards Blvd was extended across the light rail track with a new railroad crossing replacing the one that was also in that area, between 16th St Station and 23rd St Station is now double tracked and the 18th St crossing was removed and also is the Blue Line split off now, the R Street Corridor between 23rd St Station and 29th St Station now has housing, the 65th St crossing near the station and the Redding Aveeen the Brighton Bridge and Watt/Manlove Station the light rail is double tracked and the Power Inn Rd crossing was removed now a bridge, Power Inn Station and College Greens Station were rebuilt along with the Jackson Rd and Florin Perkins Rd crossings were also rebuilt fully, the light rail now goes over S Watt Ave on a bridge and the crossing was tremendously rebuilt for the freight track, and then last but not least the light rail was extended past Mather Field/Mills Station all the way to Folsom, CA. I wish there was a close up of the Mather Field Rd crossing from back then so I can get a 100 percent refresher of the signals on the intersection side of Mather Field Rd that were replaced later in 2004 when the light rail was extended. I remember how the signals looked and were setup and equipment but you can't remember the small details of them from back then.

Wow, the trains looked much cleaner and had an actual bell. I can't stand how most of the cars today are either in a dirty blue paint scheme or covered in torn advertisement wraps. On occasion I still spot the white paint beneath the wraps, faded like but still charming.

Thank you for 1999 video of Cab view! I designed SacRT Track Map with EVERY signal numbers and switch numbers this year and I always wanted to do historical track map especially from opening in 1987 and including all the changes (i.g. double tracking). Do you by any chance take cab view videos as early as 1987 opening?

No, my earliest videos are from 1998/1999. The station map in the video was from around 1987. I added 39th and 48th and Mather Field to bring it up to 1999. Glad you enjoyed the video.
