You’re listening to the SSPX Podcast, and welcome to Episode 7 in our Sacraments series, where Father Paul Robinson will join us to discuss Holy Eucharist. In this first of three episodes on the Blessed Sacrament, Father will explain to us the relationship between the Sacrifice of the Mass and the Holy Eucharist, then how the Eucharist is distinct from all the other sacraments, yet still intimately related to it. Next we’ll look at the importance of the Mass, and finally, we’ll see how the Faithful are meant to participate in the Mass - the Priest is performing the action, but there is an aspect of the priesthood that is shared with the Faithful - how are we supposed to participate in the Mass?

This video along with all the others helps me to deepen my faith, and to understand how my own participation in the prayers and responses are effectual. To know that the priests from the SSPX who are ordained strive to maintain the very representation of Christ being offered up. Thank you Fr. Robinson for a wonderful teaching.

This episode is crucial. Very good summary of the what the Mass really is - a Sacrifice, the greatest glory we can give. Most Catholics, without fault, really have no idea what the Mass is supposed to be, rather I think most see it as a Protestant service.

"No devotion, not even to the blessed Virgin, can replace the sacrifice of the Mass." So, so true from Archbishop Lefebvre. I see and know people who emphasize praying the rosary over going to Mass on Sunday. And yet the Mass is much more than any devotion can or will ever be.

I became catholic when I was 38 years old. 12 years ago. During my first catholic years I never attended traditional mass but I know all these things you teach in the Sacraments series, and I agree with you in everything but one thing: the extreme criticism about the Vatican II is not a true catholic thing. There is always something a true catholic can learn from their bishops, even though the bishops would go astray here and there a bit. The errands should be taken in a reverent way, asking oneself how I can deepen my faith thinking if these things are 100% correct or not. This way we keep the unity and the reverence in the church and grow in faith.

The explanations given about the sacraments are so very clear, methodical and thorough. Thank-you for this very necessary series. Just a clarification: the words that you put on the screen for the 'Suscipiat' @40:14 are NOT the literal translation from the Latin, but rather the words from the Novus Ordo 'Offertory' prayer.
@SSPX

"Orate, fratres: ut meum ac vestrum sacrifícium acceptábile fiat apud Deum Patrem omnipoténtem" is the prayer from the Traditional Missal. In English that is "brethren, pray that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable before God the Father almighty." The New "offertory" just lifted from the old, in this case. But they removed much of the other sacrificial language, and the language which makes it clear the "sacrifice" in question is a real propitiatory sacrifice.

Can you verify:: 1. Do you receive graces when you get the each if the seven sacraments? 2. You go to Sunday mass but not receive Holy Communion. Do you then receive graces? 3. If the person next to you receives Holy Communion.dies he receive the same graces as you since the holy mass and holy communion is the same?
@SSPX
@SSPX 2 жыл бұрын
1. Yes, each sacrament gives the restoration or increase of sanctifying grace, along with a special grace befitting that sacrament (the “sacramental grace”). 2. A person can receive graces from Holy Mass without receiving communion; however, these graces are dependent on his dispositions - in what way and with what spirit he unites himself with the sacrifice going on. When receiving communion worthily, the sacramental graces is given from the very fact of receiving, and in some manner, does not depend on the person’s dispositions. 3. Holy Mass and Holy Communion are not the same with regard to the person who simply attends versus the person who attends and receives communion. The grace of Holy Communion is a sacramental grace of nourishment and union. The graces received from the holy attendance of the Mass are, again, dependent on the dispositions of the one attending. Moreover, merely attending at Mass does not give the special, sacramental grace of Communion. -Fr. Wiseman

Is it possible for Archbishop L. To one day be Canonized if one day the SSPX is reconciled with Rome, and Archbishop L. Is the founder of the Order, or is it impossible since he died excommunicated?
@MrMercuryW
@MrMercuryW 2 жыл бұрын
The excommunication can be lifted after death. The situation around the Econe Consecrations which Archbishop Lefebvre performed doesn't seem enough of a reason for him to not be declared a Saint one day, so far it seems he did that because he thought he was going to be betrayed, which seemed likely due to the situation at the time. And before he did that he repeatedly requested the Holy See for authorization for consecrating the bishops and went to Rome many times, yet the pope didn't summon him for an audience regarding the matter. All in all, Abp. Lefebvre didn't attempt to create a parallel Church, who wasn't in communion with the pope, but instead consecrate auxiliary bishops and potential successors after he died. I wonder if he feared he was going to be martyred as well.

I love the SSPX but have recently been made aware of why they are not in communion with Rome; because they refuse to accept Vatican 2. Well I don’t agree with V2 either, but is it worth not being in line with The Holy See?
@TruthSeeker-333
@TruthSeeker-333 2 жыл бұрын
If you read Lefebvre’s books you will se why. V2 stands against Trent and the universal and infallible teachings of the Church and Popes in several points - religious liberty, ecumenism, indifferentism. Also V2 did not teach or define doctrine and did not apply the protection of infallibility. It was repeatedly called a Pastoral Council by the Popes. The problem is it is constantly used as a source of teaching in the Catechsim and elsewhere with no regard to actual doctrine that has been defined before by previous Councils etc. Why is a pastoral council now used as a source of doctrinal authority? Why not Trent and others, which were actually dogmatic? You basically have to stand with 2000 years of Church teaching, or with the last few decades since the reset of V2.

The SSPX is in communion with Rome but has irregular canonical status. The Society has been given jurisdiction to do marriages and hear confessions from the Pope. Bishop Athanasius Schneider discusses this with Taylor Marshall in a podcast.

+JMJ+ The dude guy might have been a broad-minded Hippy. Normally, Hippies are Hindu, like our new Prime Minister of the UK!!!! But for a Hippy to think positively about the Mass is open-minded. May he be blessed by Almighty God and follow God's calling of him. Amen

Why can't the TLM be done in the venecular? Why can't the "Dialog Mass" be used? What is wrong for a layperson(male or female) do the readings and the Intercessions in the absence of a deacon?
