I worked as a Support Worker. While still under probation, during welfare checks, a PWS was seen in an uncomfortable position. Not knowing what to do, I called a more experienced colleague who suggested we complete the checks before reporting. Long story short, I lost the job and they sent to DBS but God that saw my innocency, knowing that I didn't want to put that my Nigerian colleague in any trouble for me to scale, came through for me. I'm not there again but I've learnt my lesson to report issues without any delay to the appropriate person or authority. I decided to post my personal experience for someone to learn from it. Thank you.

Good for bringing this, the other side of the truth. There are issues on both sides. Some workers focus is the visa and money no love or interest in the company or Job, or any care about the monies company's invest in them, their focus is themselves. Some employers also mistreat and exploit some good employees. Well done let justice be served.

Unfortunately, local news readers will likely assume that this is just another reason to distrust all migrant workers even though this kind of abuse can be inflicted by anyone ill suited to the care taking role. What a terrible situation all around.

I think support workers should start wearing body cameras when dealing with patients.

You're not the police and you're bound by law to keep patient's identity as confidential. Your employer might be required to fix cameras at appropriate places.

I appreciate the information you have brought to us I kindly request that you also bring more stories about care and support workers who are doing very well so that the focus won’t only be the bad side of it because the white are really funny especially if they see things like this, they will focus on the bad side and make it trend . a lot of care and support workers are really been abused by their employers and service users .

I appreciate you highlighting this issue, another major issue new migrants are facing is abusing their own kids at home and getting into trouble. I think it would be helpful if you can bring a social worker to discuss this issue, parents are having their kids taking away and ending up in prison.

@@TochiEstherUnison in my area isn’t proactive. God vindicated me at work, I called unison severally , they didn’t do anything . I have paid consistently monthly for almost 1year 6months. I had to move to RCN .
