72 years old and this takes me straight back to a time 65ish years ago when my mother, a Joan Baez fan and a beautiful suprano voice herself, would sing along as Joan Baez music filled the home. with music. Moments of bliss.

In about 10 years from this year, all these gems, all these wonderful singer, songwriters and talented hippies that changed this world will sadly die off, never to be replaced. The songs that were made in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s changed how people think and how they challenged social order as it was. Nice job! Am 82. Saw her in person 60 yrs ago and have been a fan ever since. Also, our nation owes her a lot for her couregious stands against Vietnam war. A true Patriot.

I recently turned 79 and grew up with Joan Baez singing on my stereo. Her voice still brings tears too my eyes.

In August of 2022, I'm here at 77 years of age and just mesmerized by her performance. The range and softness of her voice just melt your soul. Thank the higher power for giving her to us.

In 1964 I was often in front of the White House when we picketed the White House and singing all those old civil rights songs In support of passing the 1964 Civil Rights Bill. One day it was bigger rally across the street in Lafayette Park. I was just standing around and all of a sudden, Joan Baez stepped out of the crowd. She was there to support Civil Rights, not to sing. I was stunned by how beautiful she was. A few years later she was singing to a huge crowd gathered on the Mall in an anti Vietnam war protest. She was singing from a stage erected on the west steps of the Capitol exactly where the January 6th riot took place. Around 4 years ago I saw her perform at the Kate Wolf Festival in Mendocino county. Her son was playing percussion. She looked great and sounded great and got a standing ovation. She turned 80 last January 9th.

When this song came out on Blonde On Blonde, it was in the era of 2 to 3 minute singles. That anyone would devote one side of an LP to one song was stunning, but it flowed along like a river of metaphors. Dylan is/ was very good at creating melodies for his poetry. His melodies are underrated. Joan is wonderful on this one.

Joan Baez, what a Voice to speak out for justice, equality, civil rights on behalf of those who were never given a voice. What great American, what a wonderful world citizen she is!!! Happy and proud I was on several of her live concerts in different places in Europe over the years she was performing there. Her voice, her ambitions to fight for human rights, her political engagement and bravery to shed light on the wrongs to turn some - and if possible more - toward what's right, her message to spur peace, to ask for engagement, to dare more and true democracy, to reject and defeat wars and autocracies, to overcome bigotry, all this had a great impact and helped together with many other artists to change an entire generation and with it many things more to the better. Nothing was done in vain, even it may at times appear as such!! Joan is and was always hope for better days in a future to believe in to become true!

I was there when she introduced him at Newport in '64 (all acoustic) & in '65 when he did his first tunes acoustic & came back all electric----fans booed him like crazy !!? I was parking cars behind the artist's trailers & swiped a beer from a keg on their picnic table .....life was a bit simpler back then, kids. I never heard this song sung by Joan Baez, it is magnificent. It's a good song when Bob Dylan sings it himself, but the way Joan sings it, is even better....

I am 74 also and my husband and I lived in San Francisco until 1975 when we moved to Marin Co. Joan has always been an elegant woman - her hairdos, her modest and very stylish and feminine clothes, her elegant choice of jewelry and never smoking or holding a glass of alcohol - with the voice of an Angel. I wasn't into Bob Dylan or Joan Baez concerts then and learned from You Tube videos that she and Bob were engaged until he left her to marry Sara. I am so thankful to the person who posted her life story in photos. All the photos made me aware that this song isn't just about Sara, but is about Joan also. Confusing because in song "Sara", Bob stated that he wrote "Sad Eyed Lady" for Sara. Learned from the You Tube posting of Joan singing her composition "Diamonds and Rust" that the song was about Bob, who I read was irritated at the time, but reunited with Joan in his Rolling Thunder tour and later expressed his lifelong love for Joan.
