Sad news coming out of the Surf Community.............

First off my condolences to the Ohana of Callum & Jacob Robinson along with Jack Carter Rhoad. In a few weeks a lot of fellow surfers from O'ahu and the Islands will head down to Mazatlan and compete in the Mexi Log Fest so I just wanted to leave some advice for preparing to travel and also receive communication updates from the Embassy and State Department while traveling.

We got robbed on the way back from a Rosarito surf trip in 2008. They stole my passport, clothes, video camera. It was an unlucky trip but I wouldn't imagine going back there in today's economic climate. Yikes!

Growing up in SoCal I used to go down to K38 and beyond around once a month. It was so fun and safe, Long as you didn’t drink the water. But today it seems that anything goes. This is very sad for their families, terrible for Mexico as word gets out, and people stop going. Especially what was a trusting surfing community. No more!

Drove through and closed many gates around Santo Tomas and adj. 1990's were chill in that area. What ruined it? You can guess.

Great information & solid advice 👌 It's a sad situation ! We have a lucky go travel attitude here in Australia 🙏 But investigating the potential risks of visiting a foreign country should be considered ! Learning some language & connecting with some local surfers in the area through social networking 👌

Definitely and not putting all of your trust into friends who themselves might not be prepared. I hope the ohana's can find closure now.
