Here are a few facts I have learned from my many encounters with this slimy beast: You can sword lunge out of the Kraken's "mouth" when it sucks you in. No, it is not possible to summon the Kraken, though you have a better chance of getting attacked the more loot you have. The Kraken can only spawn when no Skeleton Fort or Fleet is active, and even then, it only spawns once between events. The Kraken's difficulty scales depending on your ship. On a Sloop, you only have to defeat 2-3 tentacles, 5-6 on a Brigantine, and 7-8 on a Galleon. Note: It *DOES NOT* care about your crew size. You'll instantly start to drown when in the inky water, so don't get in it. The Kraken does not target rowboats, so if your ship sinks and you want to save the loot, go for it. It can still suck you out of the rowboat if it uses that attack on the ship, however. Don't waste your firebombs, blunderbombs, and cursed cannonballs on it. Stick with cannonballs. Never panic when confronted with the kraken... unless your being pursued by enemy players. Then accept your fate and *PANIC.*

I remember seeing the kraken the first time I played sea of theives. I was on my own not knowing where my ship was when I noticed a ship was alone without a crew. Someone must've forgot to anchor it because it floated backwards where it was beached and started sailing off on its own (I was by the port trying to see what merchant would give what quest when I saw this) I was starting to wonder if it was my own ship that sailed off without me so I stared at it sail away until I had to use a spy glass for it. I saw it's tentacles grab it and make easy meal and a chilling experiance for me. I found the crew of the ship later in the grog playing music in the bar I just happened to miss them when I spawned in I couldn't tell if they beleived me (they were mutes) or not so I just walked away and found my own ship eventually.

Yesterday while we had some small loot, we started shooting cannons at another ship. We got split up around an island and as soon as we cleared the island the kraken attacked us. The other ship was shooting cannons at us and the kraken was attacking lol it was nuts

From what I read on the wiki, it attacks when there are no world events, that's why it usually attacks after doing a fort, you just cleared a world event, possibly the only world event left, and it will only attack one person at a time so if the server is full it's a 1/6 if it's five ships 1/5 ECT. As far as I'm aware that's the only coding for it too attack, you can't summon it, and it doesn't specify *who* or what to attack, it just attacks

Can't believe he didn't mention that the Kraken won't spawn if there is an event in the sky. Probably why it is common that it spawns after doing an event. Plus, you can harpoon your friend from the Krakens tentacle. Also, if the Kraken wraps your boat, use Blunder Bombs to get it to quickly unwrap.

Another tip I saw from someone else. Raise the sails once you see the black water so you don't go sailing off after you've defeated it, because you'll get loot from it. You don't want to go and lose the loot by sailing of

First time I ever fought a Kraken was when I was playing alone in a sloop. I was headed back to galleon's grave outpost to cash in some stuff. I managed to win, personally, I think fighting the kraken alone is easier than with 4 other people, cuz it only seems to attack when you attack it. Also, I heard Krakens appear in a completely cloudless sky, no flameheart, no storm, no fire tornado.

I just got and passed the maiden voyage, and I just accepted my first contract. I sailed literally 5 minutes away from the starting island outpost thing and the goddamn kraken spawned on me. I survived in my tiny ship barely. I was like well this is a hell of an introduction.

Actually, a sloop with no loot can also be attacked. I was playing today and my friend and I just left an outpost after selling all of our loot. Not even 30 seconds out we were attacked by a kraken with 0 loot.

We met a guy in a sloop who’s ship was basically going down and decided to help him but midway through repairs the kraken attacked and he let us use all his cannon balls to defeat it and even let us use his cannon

I think you are right about how it will come when you are least ready for it because me and my friend were playing sea of thieves and we were getting drunk playing music and I was shooting around every were not really even aiming and then the water turns from blue to black and my friend says oh no and then I say what then I realize what was about to happen we died but I liked it when it grabbed cause I got a really good view of the tentacles and the water I also fell in and I could not see a thing it was all just pitch black

When doing fact number 4 once you've finished it in the vault if there's gunpowder barrels make sure it's not a stormy dqy

You could fight the kraken but in most cases you don’t want to sell your skull fort loot because it’s worth like 20k

i can confirm that the kraken usually attacks at the most inopportune moment HOWEVER what people on board are doing is actually irrelevant one day our brigandine got attacked by the kraken and all my crewmates were doing was one on the map and standing guard on the ship, one piloting the wheel and me in the tower and it just spawned seems like the best way to randomly meet the kraken is going in deep waters

If your in your ship and not watching the water. There’s a sound that plays when the water turns black. Then like two seconds later youl here a roar/screech and boss music

AS I WAS WATCHING THIS WHILE SAILING AROUND AND PLAYING MUSIC IT SPAWNED

I was just attacked for the first time today. So my friend was down in the deck drinking and I was on the map, we had finally gotten all of the lantern colors. I went up from the map and was wondering why there was boss music. I looked around and realized we weren't moving, so I asked why aren't we moving? And my friend comes up all drunk after three drinks. Well I'm looking around and I hear KRAKEN! From my friend behind me. I look up and well there are three tentacles at the back of the ship. I get on a cannon as quickly as possible not knowing what to do. A mouth tentacle comes up and starts sucking us in. We were able to fight it still freaking out not knowing what the heck you're supposed to do to kill it. I get sucked up and it swings me around I'm trying to hit it with my sword my friend is trying to get to a cannon and then I get slammed into the water instantly dying. It then grabbed my friend and threw him into the water leaving him to drown. I respawn and it puts a tentacle around the ship.dragging it down... Me and my friend were pissed bc we had spent three hours figuring out how to get the different colors.

I went solo sloop today and got attacked by a kraken just after leaving the golden sands outpost when I had just spawned. 3 minutes in game lol I don't think there's much you can do to get it to spawn

Bro that rumor is so wrong I literally got attacked solo on a sloop and managed to win the fight. So you know that attack where it sucks a pirate into one of the tentacle mouths and drowns them? I think I countered it by staying on the cannons. I sailed away after the fight WITHOUT REALIZING THERE WAS L O O T. Kinda surprising
