Terror had the Iran- (and Western-) backed insurgents, who worked to destabilize Iraq but the country remained strong because of the connection between the leader and the people. The true terror, heartache and death were brought AFTER Saddam was ousted. Then the Americans, with the killings and rapes (Abeer al-Janabi), the "Special Groups" massacring Sunnis, Kurds displacing Arabs, and the arrival of Al-Qaeda, Zarqawi and the ISI.

I just found out yesterday that Iraqis tried to over throw him again in 1999 and were brutally suppressed, using the Iraqi republican guard, fedayeen saddam and the Iraqi army. In one of the battles in Basra the Iraqi republican guard had to use Tanks and the rebels actually held their own.

Don't forget most Sunnis also despised tyrant Saddam but they feared that if Saddam falls Iraq will be overtaken by the Iran's Evil regime and Badr criminal brigades in Iraq who were anti sunni and pro Iran. In 1995 general Dulaimi and his large tribe from Ramadi attempted a military coup with 200 tanks, Artillery and marched to Baghdad However the Republican guard and special republican guard (mostly from Tikrit and Saddams tribe) were able to defeat the attack although both sides suffered heavy casualties...Saddams republican guard had helicopters which were effective against the Tanks. The helicopters were allowed by the Coalition in the ceasefire talks in 1991 by Western Coalition for peaceful purposes of helping civilians but Iraqi govt used it for suppressing the uprisings 1991

Sad thing is: If Saddam were never toppled using the excuse of WMDs. the world would 100% be a better place today. I understand that Iraq might not be a better place, but after his fall we ushered in the burgeoning Al-Qaeda, all the later ISIS/ISIL lunatics, the Kurdish conflicts that still rage today, 20 wasted years in Afghanistan, and we would still have boots (that aren't American) on the border of Iran. Saddam was not a wonderful person, but let us not forget that it was the US (!) that supplied him with the poison gas he used to kill the Kurds. WE supplied the gas, because we thought he would 'only' use it on Iranians... What a joke, almost as bad as us saying he had the weapons that would have given him immunity from US action, just as North Korea and Iran now do. Funny how the only countries that fell to the US (Libya and Iraq) were accused of WMDs and terrorism, but didn't actually have them. Funnier yet, how we taught North Korea to double down and REALLY get the bomb to safeguard its future. Saddam was our friend until we didn't need him anymore.

With regards to killing civilians with helicopters, I'm not sure about that incident, I know a lot has happened in 1991.. what we know for sure is that it was triggered by the alliance trying to take down the Iraqi government by sending nearly a million soldiers from 40 odd countries.. this is when Iran decided to send their revolutionary guard along with proxies such as the Islamists Dawa party and Badr brigade... I'm sure innocent people were killed in the cross fire, but people have to understand that Iraq was in chaos, these thugs from Iran burnt food storages, hospitals, government buildings, they killed innocent people, and they forced people to fight.... city after city was falling in the chaos because Iraq's armed forces were fully dedicated to defending Iraq against the attack by the alliance.

@@mathiasvoorhees6232 Kuwait was slant-drilling Iraqi oil and floodung the oil markets cheap oil which was hurting the Iraqi economy and Saddam tried several occasions for them to stop but they continued thme US allowed him to invade Kuwait because it was them who used Kuwait as a bait to start a war to destroy Iraq and its regional power. The Iran-Iraq War really began like this, in 1973 America wanted to persuade the Shah of Iran to initiate a war with Iraq to control its oil after Saddam nationalized Iraq's oil and making it only for Iraq. The Shah refused to enter a war and considered it an American plot to weaken and dislodge him thus he sought to reverse America's approach by concluding a peace treaty with Iraq in 1975 called the Algiers Treaty on the Persian Gulf waters and to stop feeding Iraqi Kurds to rebel against power at that time. At this time the Shah begins separating himself from the US and in 1976 they start planning to oevthrow him and replace him with a more obedient leader Khomeini yes (Khomeini). In 1980, Iran begins the war Iraq with a dual American program and the war of attrition for both sides continues for 8 years after it wiped out most of the power of Iraq and Iran without any results or gains that claimed more than a million deaths and America discovered Saddam is too powerful for Khomeini to depose him, and the battle ended with Saddam Hussein coming out stronger. Don't get me wrong Saddam was a dictator but he wasn't mentally unstable nor a psychopath, he was a toxic narcissist.

@@thepresident1971 When your own country in blunder like that of iraq. Its own leaders justs destriy karbala monumemts and killed thousands. Dont expect other country will do ever goodness. Still there is some hidden reasons. Macron thought goodness for lebonon but due to single eyes view point he was banished. America tried to do goodness. May be puttting soldiers or millitant camp. But everytime they tried to get into the countries like oran, afganishtan or iraq even they got aggrwssion and they loose lots of soldiers. Always croticism or blaim will never occur. Imdia blaim pakistani for every massacre but in real pak is suffering in its own country loosing 5000 lives. America in afgan war tried to mix with the normal citizens but they got blunder from the talibaniis. Evwn the peace treaties was also banished. America and other nations along with UN attacked iraq 2 times directly not jists by millitant, its during gulf war when iraq tortured and captured gulf countries and while capturing saddam. Citizems were happy that time. See reacrions. Thankyou.

This massacre took place right after/during the desert storm 1990-91 initiated from Saudia by US and allied forces in response to the invasion of Kuwait by Saddam. This was not the only case. The Marsh Iraqi Arabs in the South were deprived of their livelihood and crushed by draining the marshes of the Euphrates in the same period. .Before that Iraqi citizens were chemical bombed by the Iraqi forces---the same Saddam who was supported by the West in the Iran Iraq war. The US stopped short of toppling Saddam because of Saudia advice that Iraqi Shiites chafing under Saddam s rule and already marginalised and discriminated may then dominate the country since there were in the majority. It was a tacit admission of its citizens strangulated and deprived under horrific conditions since decades. Saddam, though was let loose inspite of Desert storm to carry out a massive program of putting off the aspirations of Shias who were thinking finally their chance at democracy had come. They were brutally murdered , all of them women and children who took refuge in the shrine and other religious alcoves. The city was razed yet Saddam was stopped by the Allied forces to bomb Kurds in the north. Its a paradox Saddam s army did not fight in Kuwait or at the front the coward chose to kill defenceless women and children within the country before meeting his brutal end. Nor the UN or US who was on ground stopped him. His sons, henchmen and the murderous thugs were also annihilated. To try and give it any other color involving Iran mostly or Pakistan is ludricious. Of course right minded muslims everywhere particularly Shiites were deeply grieved at the events. The Iraqis have suffered but by the Grace of Allah Karbala has revived and the lovers of truth and justice throng to the shrines of Karbala. Iran continues to support Iraq with massive aid and the North of both Syria and Iraq is still being pummelled by foreign forces. The real truth still needs to be revealed.

Also bush spread out leaflets on the inhabitants of Karbala to embolden them and then left them to die,… everyone knows American aid went to iraq (during the Iran/Iraq war) but nobody talks about Israel oddly enuff supporting Iran,. And mostly that was American aid & intelligence to israel ,. But a deeper layer of it all is israel is basically Russian kGb and Mafiya,. All their terror groups evolved out of left wing Marxist organizations,. Israel being Americas Allie in the war on communism is just as absurd as the war on terror,.
