A little tip for you. Where your ropes are on those Americe step steps is what’s causing your difficulty in getting them to roll over and lock in. Your ropes need to be connected farther over the bend. It’ll save you a little time and frustration.

How exactly are you attaching your predator to your mantis as you climb? Is that only being held on by a gear tie?

I think the quality of the climb and how its in weather like that is fine. But at 40 more pounds in November clothing and rifle season with it being cold. like to see how it would work then.

Very good approach and secured aider! I'm hunting from those steps too and not sure how you hook an aider when go down (!). It's not much place under your feet... Could you please to make video about your descending techneek. Thank you and good luck!

Very informative - thanks. I haven't hunted from a tree before - how do you keep mosquitos away? Is there any concern that a repellant would alert the game, or is the theory that they can't smell anything from that high up?

Paul Crave the hook is a standard hook that comes on a rather strap. You can also use a carabiner.

Just an fyi - on the left side of the first step the rope looks like its over the standoff instead of under. That might be the reason it looks like the step keeps wanting to flip back up.

Wrap tape on each side of the middle, then put your hook in the middle, now it can't slide

Erik Martinez silent strips or any soft camo tape. The standard outdoor stores usually have some soft tape you can wrap around them.

How did you connect the waistbelt to the mantis and where did u buy it?
@addictedwhitetail2966
@addictedwhitetail2966 5 жыл бұрын
Josh Bradybaugh We use the built in molle on the belt and the mantis. Use “Condor 4" MOD Strap Coyote Brown” from amazon to attach the two. We will post a video soon on how the two are attached.

Also, does that hook have the potential to fall off coming back down and how do you successfully hook the aider on while standing on the wild edge step below you . Are you just lowering the hook on the step with the rope connected to you and the aider? Could you show a close up video of your technique?
@addictedwhitetail2966
@addictedwhitetail2966 4 жыл бұрын
Erik Martinez it has the potential if there’s no weight on it. Once you get your weight on the aider it’s not gunna fall. I have a 6 foot piece of 550 attached to it as well as a dummy cord so I don’t accidentally drop it.

I agree with all the commenters that want to see some up close detail on the descent. I couldn't figure out from watching that how you get the aider to hook up to the step on the descent

Walter I don’t use a saddle but I would think the weight (or lack of) is the advantage. The Viper weighs around 20 pounds. I’m betting this guys set up is under half that. So for guys that are walking in long distances I can certainly see why they like it.
