I am bombarded by negative thoughts and I am being treated for Clinical Depression, anxiety, mood disorder. From my Psychiatrist WARNING me not to stop my drug treatment. Satan is always at my weakness, I am always putting on my armor of God. I have a flip file of verses to plant into my brain. I have been apart of CR, and I have the hope journal. I am in a good church. I need a on line community to connect with. Encouragement that will understand, mental illness. TY you all for your encouragement.

It's always good to learn how to deal with your negative emotions as well and learn positive, non-sinful self-soothing behaviors and self-talk! Obviously, in order to achieve this though, you have to go through God with honest prayer.

Very needful for me! It sounds RIDICULOUS that my greatest temptation is FOOD, but it is. About 6 months ago, i was 98 lbs., which was BAD, i could not gain a pound to save my life, no matter what terrible fattening foods i ate! I'd been quite ill. Now that I'm doing better, I'm still eating ALL those wrong foods. i just realized, IF not for THIS, I'd be doing SO much better, emotionally (cuz i wouldn't be beating myself up for giving in to temptation), better spiritually, (cuz i wouldn't have this between me & the Lord), physically, (cuz bad foods = bad health, especially for immune deficient people me). I'm embarrassed that gluttony is my sin, but maybe admitting it here, will also help. I'm feeding my (negative) emotions & i know better. Thank you, Pastor Rick, for all your relevant teachings!

I find that resisting temptation just buries healthy desires. I think Rick is right with this. Healthy desires pushed down will continue to be corrupted until they are pulled out and dealt with in a healthy, godly way.

I feel hopeless and worthless in everything and yet I'm very proud . What am I so proud about? And I'm still trying to understand the meaning of love. How can I love when I don't know what love is. I know the definition of love but I don't know whether I have it or not .

Why does our Lord say : Count it all joy when diverse temptations and trials come for it is for the perfecting of your soul ? Resist and trust Christ , he paid it all but that makes me sad that I let him down for I Love him. And Jesus said then stay in my Word and spend even more time with me.

I was told to "resist" them. Along with other points "recognizing" patterns I continue to do. Thank you!......

@Andreea Palici It’s odd that you get to pick and choose the temptations. You shaking a stick so forcefully at lust, but then being ok with anger, hate and desire of power (lust for power?) says more about your preconceptions than anything. Because, really, you can’t say anyone is “pure” if they are tempted by hate and power desire. Or it could be temptation is a part of the material body, which Christ took, and it is not temptation that is the sin but the acting upon it and doing of it that is. In which case, it wouldn’t matter what temptations He faced. If He never acted on any, He would be without sin. However, scripturally, if He is claimed to have been tempted by all that we are also tempted by, lust would be part of that, no matter how uncomfortable it makes you feel.

Very intellectualized for me i, am not saying that its not a great sermon but seems every time i hear rick that i l9ve and respect i feel burdened and incompetent. The goals and efforts that are asked are way too hard and hight to accomplish.

Whenever I feel that way, I understand it is God’s Holy Spirit I’m getting my attention on realizing where I am. It’s all a progressive sanctification. I pray more about why I feel incompetent and it is typically revealed to me.
