Amy Smith The ship is not representing people here, but the actual setback. It's not a case of us versus them, but us versus Satan's attacks on us and on them too. He is the destroyer here. I have a huge testimony if you saw my journey away from and back to Christ, having been shipwrecked after going into the FOG (Fear Obligation Guilt) via a high control group of false Christians. I was abused as a child and I remember feeling scared that any person would suffer hell even for what they did to me. It was right to pray for them as I did at the start, but not right that I was not protected from them by my family and told it was not so bad. That was part of my journey towards marrying into a cult that did not teach forgiveness and mercy. The shipwreck came when my husband was excommunicated for sins way back in his past that he'd long since repented from. He couldn't believe that God was there when he got depressed and we fought over the parable of the 2 Sons or Prodigal Son at Luke 15. He believed that although the Father forgave instantly, the other members of the church were not to do so and that he needed to be disciplined by them to prove repentance, by attending meetings and being shunned for an indefinite time (almost a year in his case). That was our shipwreck, but even though he'd led us into that church, we had the Bible and he had me showing him this scripture, so God was still there, he just couldn't see it and I lost him. I have forgiven my abuser even though he never acknowledged what he did or apologized. I don't need to drink the poison of bitterness, but only the sweet cup of hope I have in the arms of my Father. I leave it all with him and I give thanks that he has welcomed me back to him after the shipwreck.
