I don't see the importance of fatherhood. I always wondered what's the importance of fathers in a child's life. I can see why mothers are important. Women are socially and biologically programmed to be parents much more strongly than men are. Mothers are the ones that produce milk to feed to their babies. Also, mothers are the ones that are usually in charge of their babies, and they assume that role early on. Also, women have "maternal instinct", while men don't have anything like that. And also, children usually spend a lot more time with their mothers than they do with their fathers, and during that time, the mothers are usually taking care of the children. Also, most animals in this world are only taken care by their mothers and they don't have their fathers around at all. So why are human fathers important? It seems that a child can grow up without a father, and still turn out ok.

I randomly thought of this song a few minutes ago after not having heard it in years, and what I remembered most was the vibrant happy neighborhood and Sade's kitchen with it's colorful decor and frilly curtains dancing in the breeze. I watched this video again just for that kitchen and the colorful people and I'm glad I did- I forgot just how good that song is.

DOCTOROFLUVV88 thanku. We are strong but in a different way to men. We may not be as physically strong but we as single mothers HAVE to develop that strength. If baby daddy isn't around for whatever reason you got to be strong for your children. It is more than sad when a father abandons his role as a dad and decides to check out of his child's life. Sometimes however it's for the best. Not all men are cut out to be fathers. They can reproduce but there is a special thing being a father can bring. This song I think is a tribute to all men who have stood by their children through thick and thin. I think this has a deeper meaning also. If you believe you are a created being you have a Heavenly Father who LOVES YOU NO MATTER WHAT. Unconditionally. That means there are no conditions to his love. You don't have to be perfect, because no human is. He comes with a LIFETIME GUARANTEE. When our parents fail us, sometimes they do Our Heavenly Father NEVER does. To know what our Heavenly Father is like we look to the life of his son Yashua or Jesus the Christ. Thank you Sade for this song and being a positive role model for us ladies and girls.

I never really got to know who my dad was, he passed when I was 6. I can’t remember not one memory with him. Everyday his face fades, Sometimes it feel like we are strangers, I wish he were still here. I always wondered what it was like to have a father. My mother said he loved me so, and I am indeed their flame of love. Everytime I hear this song, it makes me feel like I’m close to him. Thank you Sade 💛

I had a son with my ex and we gifted him for adoption. My mom played this one day and I had a strong emotional reaction to it because this was pretty much his dad and I story. We love our baby but we were young and unprepared. He's 16 now.

I like to listen to this and imagine my dad knows I'm a flame and that he was there for me when I needed, if your a new dad or separated from your child please know how much your child needs you, do your best to be there for them. It would have made a world of a difference for me.

Sade will be 58 years old in three moths,God willing. And God willing I can't wait to see how she enters her 60, & 70's. I thinks she will still be just as beautiful and elegant in her 80's. And In person she is even more beautiful! I once watched a man hand her a dozen roses. You could tell she really appreciated it. She is such a humble human being. The word hot doesn't even begin to defined her degree of beauty in my opinion.

Sadly I never got to know my dad coz he passed away when I was 7months old so whenever I listen to the chorus of this song it brings me comfort... it almost feels like he's speaking to me through this song. The lyrics definitely pull at the heart strings.💚

2024 still listening to this. When my daughter was little I would have music playing in the house, windows open, cleaning & cooking while she played. Chris Woodard yes us only children are very special. Not to say others are not. It can be very lonely at times and you have to learn to be resilient as you don't have siblings to back you up when things go wrong or when you're in trouble. It can be very challenging at times also. You don't have to share toys and you may or may not get more attention from your parent(s).

Wow!!! I can relate to this song so much. 10 years strong, than after 7 years of trying we were bless with such an beautiful daughter. What my heart expected changed.
