"You're not the one. " In my many years in this life, I've come to realize that everyone and everything will eventually disappoint. Lovers, family, friends, and even pets will one day shatter the heart within, it's an inherent inevitability of existence. Once this is accepted forgiveness is the only elixir that renders the cure. Thus, the broken can become whole, and once again, become the one.

Given to me as a gift when it first came out back in the 80s. I'd start at the beginning and would be anxious for "War of the Hearts" to end so I could get to the prize--this song. It was my fave of the album. To all the men who couldn't measure up.

Coming out of the Lincoln tunnel, NYC skyline fading behind me. So dark all I can see is the lights going up towards the sky. Listening to this beautiful driving song, so soulful and the band just plays wonderfully.

A timely song for me to hear in regard to the women who've been abandoned and discarded as wives, children, mothers. I've been reading and seeing just how pervasive this is across all socio-economic groups. And in the end, they usually outlive their partners as well, a tragic and endearing truth. Sade lived this as a child and an adult, she sings with her heart.

However, it is the unawareness, the bewilderment, and the overall frail shortcomings of far too many individuals that make certain issues SEEM complicated. In other words, life is inherently quite simple. It is the blatant lack of wisdom and the mountainous ignorance of men and women which makes situations APPEAR difficult. And yes, it is indeed that simple.

I spot my stars listening to sounds like these, people like this band compose for those who by any reason dont wish to become stars. Lirics are good, but melodies go deeper, so when she days "you are not the man", sounds like "you mean more than that to us", my dog who would not let me lie, enjoys her voicr, too...
