I am a Buddhist and this clearly aligns with the view of non-self. Perfect explanation. This is why Hinduism and Buddhism are the same, there is no difference between the two

So it is like an ocean - you take a small piece of it and freeze it. You get a shape which is solid and bound, like a human being is. Then you melt it down, take away it's physical shape, and it becomes a part of the ocean again...

Do you guys dont understand that when he says "dont believe this nonsense" he means "dont take my word (or anyone) for granted" ?? Just go on your spiritual path and discover... thats why often he does not talk about this stuff, the ones who blindly agree will just believe, the ones who blindly disagree will just disbelieve, and in the end of the day to us it is just a story... we dont have a way to know for sure... well, at least i dont know, lol

I'm very happy that i found this channel where it all goes a little deeper than useal. This video gives me answer to many questions about death and beyond. I have many experience but can't really share them with other people. Now i understand why some people still hang around when they are death. Thank you Sadhguru and onepath to share this video.

Fundamentally, there is a soul. And when we die. The soul is pure spiritual energy in a metaphysical aspect that cannot be created or destroyed but changes form. As a spirit that soul can choose its own path in choosing a newborn body which is regarded as reincarnation all based upon the karma of the prior existence or experiences.

Non-Hindus: "I have a soul." Hindus: "I am a soul occupying a body which restricts/limits my full potential. At the time of death this body will be discarded and I will move on to another body taking the consequences of my deeds with me."

I like to believe that we choose how we incarnate into this life based on what we have to learn and experience, life is a gift with many challenges and paradoxes if you will. I also don't believe we get "thrown" back into life if we haven't fulfilled those lessons, I believe we choose to stay with source or we choose to come back. But again I don't know this for a fact I just like this belief I could be very wrong.. It's fascinating I like that we don't know for sure.

Krishna says in the gita: " material nature consist of three modes --- goodness, passion, and ignorance. When the living entity comes in contact with nature, O mighty armed Arjuna he becomes conditioned by these modes." Our forgetfulness of our true identity as being spiritual beings is due to the quality of ignorance; as Krishna says " from the mode of ignorance develop foolishness, madness and illusion." The statement, " I am this body " translates too " I am aware of this body" since it is by consciousness that we can know identity consciousness is our true identity. To be conscious is to be " SELF " conscious and it is this SELF consciousness that makes you an entity or soul. The souls or self's ignorance is exhibited when it falsely identify's with the body as it's self since the soul is affected by the ignorance of bodily identification it cannot be " of " the body which is composed of elemental energy. The soul, self ( Atman ) or living entity or whatever you want call it has to be something of a different nature than matter since ignorance is a condition that affects it but doesn't create it. So to say that there is no such thing as a soul is paramount to saying I as a self doesn't exist " I " as an entity doesn't exist but since it is only by self consciousness that you are able to make those statements you are using self to deny self which just leads to an absolute contradiction.

Amazing. It's not a question-answer session in which anybody is trying to prove anything. These are little gems thrown on the sideway - just hints. Only the worthy ones know which ones to pick, and when. Don't take it as a preaching or something - you'll waste your time. It takes a lot of guts to discard the idea of a Soul.

Sadhguru is self-contradictory here. In one instance he says the soul (essential essence) of a person will reborn and at the end he says it's not true. Who's the confused one?

I have died and find out and come back to write a comment. There is a soul. You belong to it not forever but wile you are you it is yours. When you die You can choose to stay (not advised), reincarnate (going to the left and entering the gold light), move on (going to the right and entering the white light), disperse if you are an atheist, be dissolved in the void (usually if you die before being born), largely based on your beliefs. All these things are transient. Now I will watch this!

Yes indeed, the spiritual journey is to go within. To find it externally is impossible. So many religions and so many Gods. So many people getting angry because you do not see the world the way they do. I have heard the words of wisdom from Sadhguru and they resonate with me. In our troubled times, we need words of wisdom. We should all be happy that we live in the times of this great sage Sadhguru.

That's why Bible says "dust returns to earth, and spirit returns to God who gave it". "Flesh and blood cannot inherit Kingdom of God" -Jesus.

To all those who find this overwhelming and feel inferior just one advise - give as much alms as possible to needy - within your capacity - it can be time, money, advise, tuition, food etc etc - AND meditate on it and continue the good deeds - there is no better feeling and liberation than that - rest is up to nature - not everybody can be doctors, engineers, mathematicians, magicians, singers etc - to each his own and quit worrying about liberation - that's the best liberation one can be in

Krishna says in the second chapter of the gita: " as the embodied soul continuously passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death."

Sadhguru starts off very well with his explanation of the many Koshas or sheaths that constitutes the body and the karmic structure that holds it together. And when the last component of the karmic structure is accounted for, the soul or the encapsulated energy becomes one with the all-pervasive energy. The bubble bursts and the form becomes one with the formless. He was clearl up to this point but went on a tangent soon after. I was left confused, not about the issue but about his understanding of the issue.

Impeccable explanation to the most ununderstandable and complicated subject called, Birth, Rebirth, Death, Samadhi, Panchakosa, Physical Body, Subtle Body, Causal Body which gives rise to Janma, Karma and Janma which are nothing but Avidya or ignorance leading to Desire which propells one into action to build Karmik structure facilitating next Birth whether wants it or not. Krishna says in the gita: " work pertaining to the development of material bodies is called karma " and what is it that we work through to develop these material bodies? Krishna says, " material nature consist of three modes goodness, passion, and ignorance. He further explains that our " fate " is determined by the mode that we have made the most prominent in our lifetime when he says " those situated in the mode of goodness gradually go upward to the higher planets; those in the mode of passion live on the earthly planets; and those in the abominable mode of ignorance go down to the hellish worlds." so in one sense by free will we create our fate by whatever mode we have made most prominent in our lifetime but it is material nature in the form of it's subtle modes that is the mechanism that places us in the realm that we deserve to go due to our work by working through the medium of the modes of nature. So karma and reincarnation is all linked to these modes because in each mode there is a fate attached to it therefore karma is the fate derived from these modes.

No attachments to the physical world is the key. I think is what he is saying. This makes perfect sense.

FYI... As a child I kept re-experiencing various past death experiences from past lives when I fell asleep. While experiencing those experiences I was not aware of this current life. Many children are aware of past lives but as children continue to age they start losing the memories from/of past lives.

Sadhguru you explained it very well. But one question. You said after death one finds another body sooner or later. That's also rebirth. Then you say there is nothing called as rebirth This is a bit confusing.

Yeah, I agreed with it. When the karma is intense the ghost still hang on. Physic people will feel those connection because ghost can sense it. Ghost can always find you because you have a gps tag unless you block it.

This is all belief ! - When he describes the 5 dimensions of the body, he fell into his own trap: It´s a belief system. Then, I remember the words of J. Khrisnamurti: "Belief has no place, where truth is concerned".

Sadhguru speaks: "there is no such thing as your soul …" "Karma is the cement which holds you to the physical body." And who is this "you" but the soul? "Karma is the bondage at the same time, it’s only because of karmic stuff you can hold on to the body and be here." And who is this "you" but the soul? "if you dismantle the karmic structure hundred percent, now you merge with the existence." And who is this "you" but the soul? Sri Aurobindo speaks: "It is necessary to understand clearly the difference between the evolving soul (psychic being) and the pure Atman, self or spirit. The pure self is unborn, does not pass through death or birth, is independent of birth or body, mind or life or this manifested Nature. It is not bound by these things, not limited, not affected, even though it assumes and supports them. From a Christian view, there is the body that goes down to earth upon dying, there is the Spirit that belongs to the Divine and to which it returns ascending, and there is the Soul, that must decide which way to go, either down to earth or up with the Divine. Thus is said : “The meek will inherit the earth” meaning that they will resurrect, and “Every hair is numbered” , meaning you are an individual and unique entity. Two systems completely different, it’s up for everyone to decide which one to follow

In other videos he says that he lived many lives, doing the same work around the same region. My question is: If the bubble pops and everything non-physical blends (like air) into everything else, how come he stays the same once he found a new body? Or does this kind of memory mix with others who die at the same time?

I like the attitude of Buddha about metaphysical questions : He said we should not discuss about things that we do not really know….let concentrate on how to liberate ourselves from human pain, miseries of life. Soul or no soul, God or no God….nobody know for sure, leave those questions there, not important for our life.

The process and concept of death is as complicated (if not more) than life itself. I am a retired scientist trying to explore things using tools of science and do not get carried away by mystical and abstract definitions and explanations. But, at the same time, I have also come across a few experiences which today's science cannot explain like a few paranormal events. There are the most fundamental questions like: Who are we? How did the Universe come into existence? What is the nature of our own consciousness? What really happens to the "I" consciousness when a person dies? And so on. When these questions are asked, Science remains silent because it cannot answer, as it is beyond the realms of Science. And, the philosophers, saints, and religious gurus give their own explanations which are abstract and unverifiable. My own personal feeling is that the answer to such fundamental questions is only one: I DO NOT KNOW. Let us be humble enough to admit our ignorance which is bliss! On the other hand, let us make our life on this earth rich, meaningful and joyous by loving and helping our fellow human beings so that this earth becomes a better place for us and for our children. Let us not fear death and face it joyously when that moment comes.

This is Sadhguru's mission. If you ask a question, I will give you an answer. It may be an unexpected answer, not matter if it does not really answer the question concretely.

I listened to this five times and found that he didn't even answer the question. In the beginning he said people who die naturally of old age will enter new body within hours; if unnatural death, then they will hang around and take a long time until they find new body. Towards the end he then said "don't believe in all these nonsense of afterlife and rebirth" contradicting and dismissing everything he just said. This is what I don't appreciate about Sadhguru. Sadhguru ji, you can understand what is soul if you have personally experienced it. You are a Gyani. There is lot what science has not discovered yet. I feel that your interpretation of your understanding is very good. but in this video i agree on most of your understanding but on few i wish to defer.

Every person has their own opinion. But in reality its a person's expeince that a person finds out the truth.

I find this subject quite disturbing. What's the point of mukti or liberation if we just dissolve into the greater consciousness and no longer exist. What's the purpose of existing in the first place then, to go through all this? Why the shenanigans? If one becomes enlightened in one lifetime and comes back in a subsequent lifetime (thus some Karma is involved to hold to the body), enlightenment does not reach the state of full dissolution into the greater consciousnesses. Once full dissolution is reached, all the experience of that being is evaporated, gone, no more karma. Difficult to reconcile with all the stories of life between lives (life between incarnations) that Dr. Michael Newton brought out in deep hypnosis. Also all those mediums, talking to beings on the other side, if not a soul then something else, by the likes of the Long Island Medium. Both ascribe to rebirth, Newton and Long Island Medium, but it certainly does not sound similar to Sadhguru's explanation. Are they in complete illusion or are these people also revealing something that fits in with what Sadhguru is saying and we are not seeing the full picture? To me it sounds like it's an either or and both cannot exist together. Just finding another body in hours after death seems like such a haphazard way. Newton talks about life selection before coming back as being a careful selection with other players in our soul groups who decide to work together in a lifetime to continue to grow as souls. To meet up in a lifetime and work together. Sadhguru's version sounds unpleasant and shitty. Maybe that's the way it is. And as I said I find it quite disturbing.

Sadguru is a great soul and is on the whole very inspirational but alas the interlect has its limitations. But the wise knows the real intelligence and reason is truly the domain of the heart.. The fact that there are different typrpe of subtle bodies does not address the question of what is the soul.. Only the soul can truly answer

Heaven and hell is here on earth,when you die ,it’s game over for “you” as you existed. What happens next ,who knows and who cares ? You had no choice in coming here ,you’re going to have no Choice if you become something else. Live a good giving life ,dodge the bullets that come your way ,and pick yourself up and dust yourself off when one hits you . This seems to make sense to me. 🙏

No one wants to be dissolved into nothing (and everything) because it just ends your SELF and nobody wants to become NOTHING. Our conscienciousness is too much valuable to be dissolved into such a thing.

It seems that Sadhguru like all enlightened people can explain the "WHAT" of existence, but not the "WHY" of it all. WHY is God doing what it is doing? That is something that I never hear addressed.

I liked that presentation. Sadhguru’s argument about what happens after death is very similar to that made by Tibetan Buddhists.

Excellent explanation considering the limitations of English, which compared to Sanskrit, is a very new language. Remember, when these concepts (as well as math and architecture) were being taught at grand stone temples in the advanced societies of antiquity that Westerners were still living in the Stone Age, pre Ice Age Era with little, if any, written language. It was only after Rome conquered Western Europe, and when the Mongols opened the Silk Road, that high-religion, math and esoteric teachings were introduced to them. These teachings are far too advanced for many Westerners to understand because to them the thought of not having 'an identity' equals death. The 'air' in the bubble held together by Karma is consciousness itself. Like the petals of a lotus flower these bubbles, or "selves", are merely partitions within the whole of consciousness. Consciousness (Karma, soul, body, mind, elements, etc) is a multi-dimensional, self-organizing, matter organizing and anti-matter destroying, self-perpetuating and regenerating entity with a hive mind which is a very intimidating concept for spiritual newbies. Even after the Karma is broken there is always perception, self-awareness and the sensation of "existing, being alive" which never goes away. However, this new perception is no longer experienced within the context of the physicality we all know and have come to expect from being inside of a body with an ego. So for an English person the short answer is: "Yes", there is life after death, but not in the way they may expect it to be.

This is something I need to listen to over and over. I have no idea what he is talking about or understand. Do we have anything at all I dont think we are just a shell. Do we just become dust? How are we reincarnated again?

My view is that death or redemption never exist, nor becoming into nothingness, we may change ourselves but never will be free.

As Krishna says in the gita: " this body, O son of Kunti, is called the field, and one who knows this body is called the knower of the field."being a knower is what makes you a self. He further says, " some look on the soul as amazing, some describe him as amazing, and some hear of him as amazing, while others, even after hearing about him, cannot understand him at all. " On reincarnation he says, " As a person puts on new garments, giving up the old ones, the soul similarly accepts new material bodies, giving up the old and useless ones."

People talk about their beliefs as though it's all proven, solid facts.

There are times when ı feel in absolute nothingness but this is not in a bad sense.I do feel I am not there as a seperate body or character.Not in a meditation not in loneliness but when awake and walking..this gives me a total relief and lightness where I dont define myself and existence.

With all due respect, Sadhguru is making this process sound very mechanistic and non-personal. To understand the frame of reference where I’m coming from, just ask yourself the question ‘who am I’. If you stick to this question long enough, you’ll find that all answers to this question seem insufficient. Essentially you just ‘are’. Its just ‘isness’. And fortunately or unfortunately, ‘you’ can never be ‘not’. I think what many people would be surprised that they still ‘are’ after their death.

What I like most in every religion on the Planet is how creative they can be to explain life, death, souls, God.... I am sure no one that has ever lived, know what happens when we die. Just wishfull thinking trying to give some confort related to death, this misterious event we all are going to face at some point

He first said that everyone accepts another body after death and then at 9:49 he says not to believe in after-life? Is he aware of what he speaks?

There is soul!!

When the karmic structure is completely dissolved the remains become one with the cosmos. When the karmic structure is completely dissolved the remains easily finds another body to reincarnate. When the karmic structure is completely dissolved before the death of the body the possibility of leaving the body at will become a reality which in turn gives the ONE that leaves, a choice of rebirth in physical or otherwise. This is where my confusion lies.

With such an elaborate explanation the idea is to confuse. I am sure if he can be to the point to the other questions, he can be to the point to this question. He isn't saying karma is actually inside the subconscious. So through meditation we tap it we have solved the biggest mystery of karma, rebirth and soul.

(Katha Upanisad 2.2.13) nityo nityanam cetanas cetananam eko bahunam yo vidadhati kaman "The Supreme Lord is eternal and the living beings are eternal. The Supreme Lord is cognizant and the living beings are cognizant. The difference is that the Supreme Lord is supplying all the necessities of life for the many other living entities." So there is one supreme eternal [Krishna] who supplies the necessities to all the other subordinate eternals. [The living entities]

I might be misunderstanding his words, but i thought that karma meant action and was inherited from your family and the world, conditioning, and reincarnation literally meant for the divine name, once its fully awaken to itself, all existance its "destroyed", and it starts all over again, The game of god. I dont really know this for certain, so dont take my word. So when you die is as if you have never existed, talking about the body ofcourse, you always exist because everybody and everything is still here. To me makes much more sense but hey thats just me.
