Recording made on 4-8-2013 during the high mass. Improvisation about song Gotteslob 642. TV-screens are from DomRadio.de.
Recording made with Ipod, and blended with the recording of Domradio to give some depth to the recording. The sound of the organ is so overwhelming, that it almost impossible to record it as the way it sounds. You must experience it there. This is just a impression.

This magnificent Klais organ has such powerful reeds that it sounds like there is a real trumpet playing.

At0mCollision then new chamades in the Western Nave ar extreme. The pressure is so high, that the pipes are attached with bolts.. It is a great joy to celebrate mass there with this kind of music. Like Mekka, each catholic with love for organs should come here once in lifetime 😋

@@SADRailsim That is true. It is definitely one of the finest organs in the world and I'm sure many organists would go on a pilgrimage there.

@@SADRailsim I have been to Mass here once when I was on a school exchange back in 1998: it was superb. The day before I had been standing in the Nave looking up at the organ on the wall and someone suddenly started playing using reeds (not the west end ones) and a number of other stops: the first chord was loud enough to make me jump! Quite an instrument.

The instruments in Cologne Cathedral are surely up there with the likes of St Sulpice, Paris, and St Paul's Cathedral, London. Absolutely breathtaking!

was für ein wunderbarer wilkommensgruss für den hochwürdigsten herrn domkapitular hans josef radermacher! dieser diener gottes hat das verdient! selten so einen sympathischen domherren kennen gelernt wie hr. radermacher! und wow meister bönig hat wieder mal mass-stäbe gesetzt!

Eine sehr getraute und ausgefeilte Improvisation über diesem schönen Choral, der zwischen beiden Teilen der Improvisation geschoben wird. Majestätisch, wunderbar, oder hochrangig, ich weiß gar nicht, welches Wort hier dazu passt. Atemberaubend!

you mean to mention them in broadcast? They do while he is playing during communion or after the service.

Hallo lieber Piano Klaus. Wenn du direkt auf denn Kanal vom Kölner Dom gehst, wirst du feststellen dass es wenige Videos von Prof.Dr. Winfried Bönig dem Dom und Kathedral Organisten gibt. Nun Ja! Unser Glaubensbruder im Herren Prof.Dr. Winfried Bönig möchte nicht im Rampenlicht stehen. Daher ist weder auf der Haupt-Orgel-Empore noch auf der Schwalbennest-Orgel eine Kamera Installiert. Monitore für die nach Verfolgung in denn Dom bzw. Kathedrale ist an beide Orgeln für Prof.Dr. Winfried Bönig Installiert. Dieses sollte eigentlich mit Jeden Organist besprochen werden und seine Entscheidung Respektiert und Akzeptiert werden. Ich als einfacher Katholischer C-Musiker-Organist mag es auch nicht, wenn Personen auf der Orgelempore sind ohne Absprache mit mir. Grund ist ganz simpel. ( Wenn was auf der Orgelempore passiert oder mit der Orgel was passiert so trage ich die Verantwortung und sonnst keiner - Zweitens möchte ich Ruhe um mich auf die Liturgie Konzentrieren zu können , da kann ich nicht noch als Aufpasser Tätig sein ) Ich Hoffe dass ich dir deine Frage Beantworten konnte. Im Katholischen Sinne ein Herzliches " Gelobt sei Jesus Christus " und denn Segen in Fülle von der Trinität Gottes dein - euer Katholischer Glaubensbruder im Herren ( so Gott will ) und Katholischer C-Musiker-Organist Peter.
