Video highlights from the SAE Aerodesign Collegiate Competition held in Ft. Worth, TX on March 2019.
This is a competition where college students build and fly model airplanes designed to lift heavy payloads and complete other design goals. Students come from all over the world to compete and test their engineering prowess. Gravity can be a harsh mistress, but no matter the result it is a fantastic learning experience for budding engineers.

Dang, if I'd have known you were there I would have said hi! I was with Texas A&M and we had the white and maroon plane. I'm guessing you didn't make it out to Florida for the 2020 East competition?

The students aren't allowed to calculate their designs or take flying lessons, right?

Do they always fly in such adverse wind conditions or is that a requirement?

Weather is random. North Texas is typically windy in early spring.

Great video, a lot of flying fun 😀 thanks for sharing this. Music is really unnecessary and a bit annoying, not needed for most videos on KZfaq, just my opinion. Thanks 👍🏻

Very respectful relay and much appreciated. IMHO, there wasn't any planes with nice sounds and maybe lots of yelling from the crowd. The music, more of the words, seemed to be an inspiration of the feelings of flight in general. Come and fly away with me. 👍 Again, much appreciation for a very respectful post.
