The Tigertail Trail - exploring the meaning of steep

This was an epic 2 hour adventure pretty close to home. I had to hike my bike in up super steep terrain with no paths for what felt like forever before the camera even got turned on. Once I got rolling there was still plenty of walking to be done as the trail is very loose and painfully steep in parts. I cut a lot of the slower parts out but the full 50 minute version will be on Patreon.
After finally making it down and off the dirt I head for home through Brentwood and keep the camera rolling, practice some wheelies and enjoy the last of the day's light.

Without the proper tires, nor the frame, nor the transmission, nor damping. Pure willpower, and madness for freedom, true to form. It is seen that he loves what he does. Tough man this Safa Brian. Thanks for the trip! It was good! 👍 Great lesson !!!

Nostalgia trip in a way. A modern gravel bike is a lot like the mountain bikes of the 90s, just lighter and with drop bars and better brakes.

Got to hand it to SAFA. He's the only gravel rider that takes his gravel bike in places where a mountain bike is probably more suitable.

Near the beginning the singletrack downhill and climb that he walked is Riordian which we did in the opposite direction yesterday. Saw one hiker on that stretch of trail. Wild flowers were better last year. We rode up Tigertail recently and I can imagine riding down it about as fast as he did a full suspension bike. Great riding Brian.

Jamis Renegade A1. It's $900. I got it a couple of months ago and I've beens super pleased with it. It has a more relaxed geometry compared to other road bikes, and the gear shifting is really smooth for the price. Rides like a charm. The only thing is the lowest gear ratio is 34/34, so it's not amazing for climbing super steep hills, but if you're reasonably fit it should be fine.
