Hi Ted. There was some flooding in the Flagstaff area but no flooding anywhere that I know of in the Phoenix Metro area including Tempe. We have had some descent Monsoon storms over the past week with lots of wind and rain but no flooding.

Food is in the important thing right now is, prices, property taxes or taxes. And the influx of illegal immigrants and the crimes.

I lived in Phoenix most of my life. Palmcroft/Encanto area, Near the Camelback0Colonade Mall and Paradise Valley. But most of my life worked out of state or overseas where I could make 3 to 10 times as much income. I retired in 2013 at age 66 and immediately moved to Panama., Since living in Ecuador, Nicaragua and for more than 4 years Costa Rica. I will never own a house or property again as I rent a 7 bedroom.5 bath house with 4 car garage on 23 acres for $161 a month. Yeah it's for sale. $380,000 but only a quarter acre. Only a ignorant sucker would ever own property anywhere in Latin America. Takes an average of 8 years to sell a house. But if I don't like the neighbors, landlord or other conditions I can move and be gone without loss in under 3 days.

@@LivinginPhoenixAZ Not interested in people moving here. I send them to Ecuador and Nicaragua. In the first two average 2 bed/2 bath house rents for $200 a month. In Nicaragua $100 a month. Ideal for disabled, retired or people with other income, but you will find no employment. Even if you did, average income in Panama and Ecuador is $450 a month, in Nicaragua $150 a month. Illegals are handled much better than the US wall. If a person works illegally in these countries the employer is fined 10 times the salary. The illegal goes to jail for 6 months and all possessions seized. North of Nicaragua your life expectancy in El Salvador will be under 72 hours. Too busy for a channel. I have too much travel and other things occupying's my time. I add that where I live there is not another Gringo for over 60 kilometers. Same type house I rent for $161 a month minus the acreage would rent for upwards of $6000 a month in American areas like Escazu and Jaco. As all the owners would be American or Canadian. I always rent from a Native Citizen. The owner of my house is a Costa Rican Pharmacist living and working in Zurich Switzerland the last 12 years. over 5 years looking for the type rental I now have and in 4 countries.

Also working outside the US I got added perks like housing car, boat and club memberships, and a huge US Tax Exemption. It is now a $103,700 yearly US Tax Exemption. Better yet my wife is Costa Rican, a University Professor and has no US Tax Liability. So gave her some inventions and Copyright royalties for Birthday and Christmas Presents which are completely tax free. Added to that I always feared divorce. Never married until I was 67. However if I were to divorce my wife cannot get a cent until married 10 years and live together in the US 5 years,. She and I have absolutely no desire to even spend a day in the US. My family arrived in America in 1690. And as of 2009 no known family or friends exist in the US. So I knew it was time to move on to a better life elsewhere. I have traveled to 78 countries since retiring and lived in 4. I spend roughly 3 months a year traveling Internationally.

Sounds like you set yourself up for a fantastic retirement! Appreciate you telling your story. Happy to hear that you are living a great life outside the US now and being able to do it affordably!
