Test of the horns in an office building/education center following a recent panel replacement. Panel is a Simplex 4007ES replacing a 4002 that ultimately bit the dust due to power supply issues. Also, thanks to YOU we have now exceeded 10000 subscribers!

To be honest and I'm not being funny, one would think the COVID-19 pandemic would be a BRILLIANT time for walk tests since there is only one person in the building.

I'm reminded of the art center at my friend's university, as they also had a Simplex 4002 panel that was replaced a few years back with a Simplex 4007ES system (complete with red cabinet, like the one in your video). But the old alarm signals were Simplex 4051+4050-80 horn/lights (before the 4002 they had a Simplex 4208 system, and its' cabinet was still left intact but gutted and used for terminal wiring), and they also had break-glass 4251-30 pulls and 2098-9201 photoelectric smoke detectors on 2-wire bases. With the 4007ES panel, they removed the 4051 horns and slapped Simplex 4906-9127 TrueAlert horn/strobes onto the 4050-80 plates, and they also redid the boiler room and installed a TrueAlert and a newer TrueAlarm smoke/CO detector, but they kept the existing pulls and smoke detectors (though one of the 4251-30s did have its' break-glass frame and hammer removed.)

Wish I had horns. At my combined K-8 and elementary schools, we had SpectraAlerts and voice evac. I'm not sure what the voice evac alarms were. At my junior high school I think we had voice evac. But we never used them at my time. They looked like the ones that they used with voice evac. Ah... Miss elementary school.

@@SimplexEAS2019 both the 9838s and the 9846s have medal sounder plates. Plastic sounder plates dont exist. The electromagnets and current draw in the 9846 are greater than the 9838 making it louder

@Safetech is there anyway to get into contact with a simplexgrinnell supplier or manufacturer? I do wish to attempt to program a simplex 4100u/es panel and i know EVERYTHING about how the hardware and programming works. Basically its a drag and drop software that contains prefabed pseudos that can be assigned as a specific part or pount of the panel. I also know that the software reads inputed points that can be programmed as different events (fire, pri2, supervisory, and trouble) on the idnet loop. Ive also touched a simplex panel (a 4100u) a couple times when my school gave me authorization to help them out with the drill. Also i have wired a demonstration board to prove competence in the field to cover liability issues. The panel isnt simplex as i couldnt find one for cheap but it at least proves i know how to wire a panel up and make it work at least (i even programmed it).

Not really as you need a virtual software key from corporate and be a JCI tech. I’ve seen non-jci tech’s with them but they either know someone in the company to do their dirty deeds or what they have is bootlegged.

@@safetech Update: I found a way in through a security company Edit: I got an internship for this company and this company installed the 4100u and probably contacted Johnson Controls to program it. I will see if i can reach out through this company or attend the inspection over the summer to talk to the technician from simplexgrinnell (if one is present) so i can get access to the es programmer. If all else fails, considering you are a simplex inspector, i can reach out through you (im not asking you for the software or hardware but im trying to reach out to the manufacturers so they can do it).
