Safety warning: Wuben E7 short circuit

An unprotected cell may be shorted if a battery is inserted in reverse into a Wuben E7. This will damage the driver and it could cause a fire.
The included protected 18350 cell works as expected and did not get warm or damage the driver.
Wuben recommends using a protected 18350 or 18650 cell.
I inserted an unprotected 18650 cell in reverse, screwed the tailcap on, and the torch started to smoke! The driver has been burnt and no longer works.

You'll be ok if you use protected 18350 and protected 18650 cells. 👍

Ive just blown mine i got it 4 or 5 days ago coat me 54 pound am fuming am 99% i never put it in backwards but now when i put battry in its sparking like little sparks tiny 1s is it fkd then loke propper any1 please

@@eyefishinggunkchannel1011 Send a video to Wuben's support team. Are you using the included 18350 protected battery? If so, it should be ok.

As these lights become more mainstream, there’s bound to be more reverse polarity accidents. I’m surprised Wuben didn’t put in any safeguards or a poke yoke of some kind. Thanks for the video.

E7 requires an 18650 battery with a protective plate; a battery with a protective plate won't be a problem. We will enhance circuit protection as well.

Lack of reverse polarity protection on the actual light isn't great if the light isn't sealed. The average consumer is well not prepared to know the difference or consequences.

@@mizaeltelmont2861 I recommend using a protected 18350. Manker 18350 Li-ion 1100mAh 3.7V USB-C. Wuben ABJ1100C 18350 1100mAh 3.6V. Skilhunt BL-111 18350 Li-ion 1100mAh 3.6V. An unprotected battery might explode if inserted backwards.
