Three Point Contact - Safety Training Video - Prevent Falls and Injuries
Never miss a new safety video! Subscribe: kzfaq.info_c...
Nature has given us four points of contact. Prevent falls! Always use three points of contact when entering or exiting a vehicle, including trucks and forklifts.
Always use three points of contact when climbing or descending a ladder.
Three points of contact means that 3 out of 4 points of contact (your hands and feet) are in contact at all times during mount or dismount.
Always face the vehicle, machinery or ladder during mount or dismount. Clean your shoes and hands before climbing on.
Use handrails, ladders or steps as provided when mounting a platform or vehicle.

Three points of contact is one of the underestimated control in Hse. The people should realize the seriousness of fall from height. And we always insist the workers to not to carry any tools while climbing on ladder, which indirectly prevent the three points of contact. Keep making more video buddies.

Thanks, for the videos. A fine points on the images: Firemen are taught to not use the rungs of a ladder for their hands, they grip the rails. In the unlikely event a rung fails they are gripping the rail with at least one hand.

A lot of information packed into a short video. After 25 years as a paramedic, I've attended hundreds of serious injuries because of falls. This short video can help prevent that.

At our site, we make sure that employees have no tools in their hand. in the video, the cartoon showed a man with a toolbox in hand. as soon as he lifts his foot to the next rung up, he looses his 3 point contact.

At our job we use 4 point contact. Being your eyes for the 4th point. Very important to see where your next step is going to be.

About mid way through the video there is a large guy climbing the ladder with a toolbox in his right hand and he has his left hand on the rung. There is no way to carry something in your hand and maintain 3-point contact. If you need to carry something in one hand, slide the other hand up the ladder rail so you always have hand contact with the ladder. Otherwise when you reach for the next rung you have zero hands on the ladder.
