This SAGA THORSDAY is geared a little bit more towards beginners but I think any Saga fan could learn a trick or two. I describe what you need to play, the various unit types, how you move, shoot, engage in melee and how fatigue works! These are the fundamentals to learning how the Battle Boards and Warlords work next time!

Just a heads up that there is a new edition of Saga out so this video is no longer completely accurate! A lot of the mechanics are similar, but slightly different. My how to play Saga 2nd edition video is located here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mJiRetSGx667mHU.html

Just found the channel - bought SAGA this past weekend at ColdWars Con in Pennsylvania - picked up the Welsh - Your videos are awesome. I'm just getting started on your channel, but its a welcome walk through so far- thank you!

Saga sees awesome! I´m starting with the study (with your videos) and I see you have ¨How to Play Saga¨ and ¨How to Play Saga 2nd Edition¨. So, naturally I should directly go for 2nd edition, right?. Now.... ¿what´s the best deal to start? Rulebook and a deal army?. I wait for your suggestion, if I want to start with the lowest spend but with all needed to garantee a strong learning of the sistem. Then I can make my armys and books longer I think. Thanks! Yep, I recommend just checking out the 2nd ones! The 1st edition stuff is similar, but if you're learning, you wouldn't want to get confused from watching videos about both systems. Gripping Beast has some starter deals on their website that are a pretty good valuable. I'd recommend their plastic Viking box to start. That one box ($25 or $30 or so) has everything you need for a whole 6 point warband!

Very nicely painted miniatures! Well done to both of you! Now, I am going to be "that guy"; it is pronounced "härth", not "herth". It is one of the wonderful anomalies in the English language.

Who carers, your videos are good and the channel nice. I am Swedish I do know how some Viking thighs are pronounced. But I could never make my own videos like you...

Nicely painted figures. What manufacturer are the Viking Hearthguard models with the long cloaks from?

I believe those are foundry. I was using my bud's figs so can't say for sure.

hey there, me and my friends are looking to play Version 1 of saga, but i cant recall the name of the books for the expansions. everything i search for on google links me to V2 which none of us want to play. any chance for the names of the supplements. ideally the Picts? thank you ever so much for any help you can provide!

The V1 supplement is Aetius and Arthur. Why are you guys sticking with V1? The V2 tweaks make a much better game for the long haul in my opinion.

I am a novice. should shields be of one design as these troops are of same tribe?

Hi E-4 Airman! You can pretty much do what you like! From a historical standpoint, most armies of the era would have all kinds of shield designs in the ranks. I think it also likely that certain warlords and higher ups could have groups of underlings with the same shield design showing allegiance. Saga's scale is actually rather small, so it'd be feasible to me to have 40 guys with the same shield, if that's what you liked!
