Thank you for your kindness and acceptance! Most people are afraid of vegans looking down on them. You have such a sweet heart, and help us feel good about even making SOME different choices. 🧡

When I started being a vegan 30 years ago, my son was 7 yrs. old. Because my husband and I had eaten meat most of our adult lives up to that point, we could have gone for a long time without B12, but my young son needed extra nutrients. I found that nutritional yeast was a great source of the B12. Also because he was smaller, it was difficult to get enough calories into him. Avocados and nuts were my go to sources. My son is now 37 years old, 6' 2", and 215 lbs. of muscle, so I feel that we did okay with his diet. 😊 I agree that knowledge is the best motivation for staying vegan. It is easier to stay vegan with the whole family eating the same way. 🍒🥦🥬🍞🥑🌽🥕 Thank you for the loving presentation of the facts around becoming vegan. I have lapsed for several years. But wiith being 69, and having several health issues, I think it is time to rededicate my meals to healthier alternitives. I think that I will make Andulusian spinch with garbanzos for tomorrow.😁 Thanks for reminding me. You are wonderful. ❤. 🇺🇲 Grandma

Hello Saga. What a wonderful video. It is so helpful to give people easy and actionable practical guidance like this. The spark for me was something a Buddhist said about eating a vegan diet and that led me to watch the documentaries (as you mention - the ‘why’). And that led to me becoming vegan. The food has not been a struggle. I decided to ‘use up’ my leather shoes and wool clothes, without buying replacements. I will struggle to find good alternatives to wool, though, when my existing woollen garments are used up. It’s such a practical and versatile material. May I ask if you miss it yourself? (Perhaps not necessary for NZ.)

That’s very interesting to hear! And thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️ I still find wool a very difficult one. There is just no real option on the market yet (in my humble opinion). So I buy second hand, preferably vintage, because then it’s not part of the fast fashion loop. For jackets I find recycled plastic to be just as warm, but cotton doesn’t really compare to wool. I’m hoping they are working on alternatives! But I for example do not wear fleece. It’s too plasticy and I really don’t like it either!

Have you ever had feijoa? I understand that it is widely grown in NZ 🇳🇿.

Yes I have! I think it tastes like bubblegum. It took med a while to like it but now I love it. Very expensive in the grocery store though at around $9.99, but many people have it in their backyard!

Thank you so much for this video, Saga! You just answered the questions that I didn’t know I needed to ask. 🙂 I’ve followed very little of the advice you give here, lol, and it’s been a struggle honestly. I now continue my winding path a little more enlightened. 🙏

Also, I have a question for you… You said one time that you don’t use fats or oils? What’s your opinion on olive oil? Because I’ve been purposely using it for its health benefits?

Such a good question... because I don't have a dream answer here - which I would have for any other question you could've asked haha :D So, the doctors I listen to are strictly no oil, no coconut oil and no olive oil. However, another guy I find quite interesting is this one billionaire longevity guy, and he eats about one tablespoon of olive oil a day, plus does everything else the doctor's I listen to do... When I'm in doubt I go to nutritonfacts.org and have a closer look at the studies there. Olive oil is, if I'm completely honest, something I'm not 100% sure about if I am missing out from not eating - especially given the hype. However, for me it adds so much extra fat and makes me eat more, I doubt I could balance my weight if I included it, but then again - I can't stop myself from eating lol. Maybe you can? We'll have to talk more about this! :D

@@SagaJohanna So interesting, the differing opinions and studies. I’m going to do some more research, as you recommended, and see what I find out. I’m not big on the taste of it, myself, so I’m only eating it for health, really. It does go good with vinegar on a salad though. Stopping eating is a problem for me too, lol. That’s why I’ve had to limit buying your husband’s recommended dates, because I will eat all the dates. 😖

Hej Saga a well presented useful video. It is easier if all family are vegan or so much duplication. If we eat meat we try for local and quality rather than quantity but mostly we eat veg or vegan. Thank you.
