Chips Pal, that made my mouth water. The troublesome cleaning aspect is the heating elements when crumbs fall onto them, bit tricky to clean. As i'm sure you've found out, the magnetic trays work when you open the door and the tray pops out a bit via magnetic pull for easy access. Fantastic new toy though and energy efficient too compared to a main oven👍

You will enjoy this addition, had mine coming up to 4 years and use it every single day. I got the black version which seems easier to clean Steam does come from the door, as I recall that’s why it shouldn’t really be under a cabinet, easy enough to wipe away any drips Not much you can’t cook in it, only use my main oven for the bigger joints now. Roasting bags can help a lot avoiding the splashes if your roasting chicken for example Usually do bacon on a tray Cooked beef in it today, it roasts up to 2 hours The thing I like the most you can set the time and walk away, no more forgetting I had something in the oven I’m sure you will enjoy it, lots to experiment with. Best kitchen appliance I ever bought, can cook anything you can fit in. Enjoy x

Quick tip that works very well for roast spuds especially, boil the spuds for about 10 mins with the skins on, leave to coolin the water, just be careful that they don't mush, the skins will just slipof and the spuds won't absorb loads of water so you get a much fluffier spud

Soak your chips before cooking in cold water for about an hour before cooking, it takes all the starch out of the potatoes, so you get crispy chips on the outside and nice and fluffy on the inside.

When my underbench main oven cashed in its chips I replaced it with a new one that included an air fryer function. The oven works wonderfully but I can't bring myself to get that lovely air fryer basket/tray dirty so I haven't used it (18 months later). I might try it out tomorrow but I know I'll look in the cupboard and see that pretty, shiny basket and end up grilling them on the good old baking sheet. A little bicarb in the cooking water can help with the crispiness of the end product by the way - not too much, just a level teaspoon helps.

Move over Ninja. There's a New Gun in town. 'Sage' Gareth your rangehood fan sounds like the engine room of a Harbour Tug! Mine sounds like the 9:15 am express to Bristol. Good on you for reading the instruction manual. A wealth of information isn't it! Internal Cleaning. Is best done as soon as it's cool enough to do so using grease cutting wipes and then a damp cloth wipe over. Mine too has the preheat function, so anything you have to cook further is subject to a quick preheat. Chips were done nicely 👍 Next step, bake something like cheese and bacon muffins. Thanks for the new toy demo. Cheers Gareth 👍😀🤤

also when i did chips in my "off brand" air fryer i just washed them left the skin and cut them and soaked them for a few hours in cold water (probs the same result as par boiling them to get the starch out ?) , patted them dry then drizzled a teaspoon of oil on them and gave them a mix and fry them for 10 mins shake and then another 10 mins at 180c , times may alter for fryer types.

Air Fryers are just rebranded convection ovens which are smaller. If you want to cook a small amount of food they are useful because they use less energy because they are not heating a big space up. Once you scale an air fryer up to the same size as a normal convection over, its simply a convection oven, same as what most people already have

Beautiful smart cooker! I have a a Sage kettle and toaster and they are brilliant! I always use Maris Piper, peel and cut them then soak them in cold water for 30 mins. I empty the water, rinse the chips and leave to sit for another 30 mins at room temp. Swop the water again rinse and sit again for 30 mins! The more starch you get out, the better the dip will be! When you are ready to use them, empty the prepared chips out onto a clean tea towel and dry they chips! I have a salad spinner and that works great to dry the chips! I don’t oil the chips before cooking. I preheat the air fryer but I set the temperature at 180. I cook them at a lower temp for a longer time and the chips come out perfectly cooked and dangerously addictive! Can’t wait to see what magic you pull out of your new smart cooker! Enjoy!

Hi Gareth from Spain. Strikes me as an awful lot of faff for a six penn'orth. When I was very much younger, like 65 years ago, first thing in the morning, I used to have to peel a half hundredweight bag of spuds, by hand, chip them, blanch them and put them down ready for later. Then peel a quarter of onions, slice them and put them in a huge sink of white vinegar, then it was gut and fillet a half-bushel of herring, put half down to pickle and the rest leave ready for frying. Those were the days - didn't do my courting any favours, I always smelled of fish!

First time I've left a comment but been a subscriber for a good while now and really enjoy your videos. I usually shop at Lidl but now send the good wife to all the different stores sourcing the products you review and enjoy so i can try them 😁 The chips look good for an airfryer btw. The only thing I would do different is blanche them in oil instead of parboiled in water, cool them and then stick them in the airfryer. Water absolutely ruins potatoes. When I make mash potato I bake them in the oven first and then peel and mash them, like we used to do in the hotels/restaurants. Love the channel and daily videos. Best of luck for future endeavours 👍

I'm sure it would be tasty though! 😂 Also, blanching potatoes in water before roasting or air frying, even before making traditional chips, removes some of the starch, which makes them nice and crispy. It's recommended that you soak chips for a couple of hours before frying for that reason too. You just need to make sure they dry off before frying, roasting or air frying. PS, why do you "send the good wife"? You should go yourself 😁

@@jacquelinesherlock2274 I absolutely hate shopping, I will happily admit it 😂. What I do is take our little 10 week old baby out and allow his mummy to go shopping and have lunch with her friends. I then cook dinner to sweeten the deal lol. Can't be fairer than that 😉😛 Could blanche in olive oil but that changes the taste. I always rinse my potatoes for a good 10/15mins then dry them to get rid of some starch. Depends on type of potato as well. We can tinker with recipes and methods but end of day the best chips are blanched and then fried in good old beef dripping. (If you want clogged arteries of course 😂)

Great stuff gaz, chips looked lush. will be interesting to see what culinary delights you conjure up in future. I just cooked a large chicken with cauliflower cheese, sprouts and brocoli, all in the tray, bottom shelf, uncovered, 170, super convection, bumped up to 230 for last few mins. Took 50mins to get 75deg internal temp. Succulent!

That does look like a good addition to the kitchen, I would be interested to know what it costs to run compared to a standard airfryer.

Best advice I can offer is never leave the oven on while unattended the juice can hit the top or bottom and cause it to flame up that's why am scared to use anything but pizza or toast in it since it dont spit , I would of had a house fire if I left it unattended Cheers enjoy it's a great toy but can be a dangerous one

Another brilliantly done video mate. I've been considering buying one of these at currys because I wanted a high level grill but quite pricey, but I think your demonstration of how it's on screen menu works and the honest considerations in siteing and care has set aside my doubts. Never bought into the stand alone air fryer and my kitchen space is limited, so I loved the way you incorporated that point as we all don't have tv kitchens. I think I would take out the breakdown insurance as this is a very techno bit of kit. Regards fred.

i thought the reason behind the air fryer is you don't need to preheat just cook and go,the sage oven looks next level need to get one

You do need to preheat air fryers but its normally only 5mins as opposed to an oven which can take up to an hour to get to temp.

I seem to recall that you liked the air fryer because you didn't need to pre-heat the oven? This looks like you've reverted to an oven (with extra function) ?? My oven has 'extra function' such as 'bake' and 'pizza' etc. Looks more oven, and less air fryer, perhaps?
