Amazing video! Biggest takeaway was separating the breaths into its own track. Never seen that before.

I learned something in the first minute lol. Never thought about boosting the vocals fundamental frequencies. YOU THE GOAT
@bryndayy
@bryndayy 2 жыл бұрын
IMO this really depends on the vocalist and what part of their range they are singing in. Sometimes it's great as is, sometimes needs more fundamental, sometimes less.

thanks for making this dude. every novice audio channel teenager always said to cut 500 hz cut its "muddy", but I find often that that area sounds good, depending on the room/style etc. prob why i cant hear lyrics in most of my old tracks lol. thanks for giving us a more intelligent breakdown and clearing things up 🚀

I was just listening to my vocal soloed. I have a high pass filter just past where the frequencies start to be noticeable, so I wasn't filtering out much in the low end. It sounded a little muddy. I was getting a "WHAA WHAA" annoying bassy sound. I added a bell cut around 210Hz. Man, what an eye opener! When I A/B that bell cut, it's like night & day! The vocal was already pretty clear, but the muddiness was a problem. I didn't really notice it until I listened to the vocal on its own. Then it stuck out like a sore thumb in the mix. My point is ALWAYS listen for mud in the lower end of the vocal. I would NOT recommend moving a high pass filter too high. I didn't want to thin out the vocal. I just wanted to get rid of a slight problem. Anyway, thanks for another great video!!!

Hi, thanks for another great video. I have one question regarding saturation. Is it always recommended to use even really subtle saturation on vocals? Plus saturation applied on vocals vs parallel distortion. Pros and cons. In what situations would you use saturation and when it's better to use parallel distortion? Thank you.

Sage. I love the channel but would love to see you do some hip hop vocals and mixes. Singing tends to be on the less complicated side plus theres a lack of good hip hop content.

Hey. Thanks for the video. It really helps. One thing that I found to be confusing though was when you mentioned Peak & RMS Down Compression. Based on the description that you gave, they seem to do the EXACT same thing. Is there any true difference between the two? Am I missing something here? Thank you for the response.
