This song in the movie is done to celebrate SRK's character's success party after winning an award. In the movie he is playing a role of an actor. So to make it more realistic the director invited these many celebrities who were popular that that time ( some are legendary figures of bollywood) for this party song.

Farha Khan the director of this movie was once a choreographer, and she was instrumental in giving many memorable songs. All the actors featured ( mostly) have danced to her choreography.

There were actors from the past and present generation. All had and have their signature style and steps in dance. There were no politicians.
