Great advice and I believe it really helps all of us make better and informed decisions with grading. I'll be sending out my first cards to get graded soon. I've been holding off on it as I really want to only send in my best of the best. My Dark Dragonite I picked up from collect-a-con will be my first graded card!

Thank you for this!! I'm always a little apprehensive about grading and normally keep my collection in binders as I don't buy to flip, but for my spares this is really helpful for determining if it might be worth me taking that extra step.

I always try to put as close to mint in my collection. Straight from pack to sleeve, then album. If a card is frayed, bent, torn, print lines, miscut, scratches, and whiting, i won't take it, even if it's a big card. Great video, thanks for the tips

The people submitting the umbreons are probably reviewing the condition and submitting based on the assumption they are getting the 10, which is prob why the majority are 10s. out of the pack I doubt 70% are in a gem mint condition but overall yes very good breakdown.
@testit1902
@testit1902 11 ай бұрын
The gem percentage takes into account the self selection bias, by just comparing the ratio of 9s/10s. Assuming you have at least some sense of the the 4 grading criteria and it looks clean to you it tells you how tough a grade that particular card is to gem out. You can see some cards just have historical issues in the print run and just don't gem as often as others. I'm not sure it came across as clearly in the video that general rule of the gem rate is 50% you need to be making money or at least breaking even on 9 before you should send it. 50% gem rate and break even price on a 9 you should probably just sell raw.
@magnificcenTCG

The last part is basically what I did when I sent in 20 vintage. Basically looked at only sending cards that would triple from the raw price if they graded an 8 or higher. Otherwise you're basically breaking even after everything.

I just bought a large collection for quite cheap so I was able to have my “break even” grade minimum be as low as 7 for everything I decided to send in. I sent the first 95 cards a month ago and am eagerly awaiting the grades!

in regards to the Gengar Mimikyu example, if it comes back a 9 youre essentially breaking even at 110 or maybe profiting like $8. Raw purchase, grading fee, selling fees.

Great info! Ive never got any cards graded but seems the way to get the most money as long as its a 10. You touched on something i wondered about, can the card be damaged during the grading process? It would stink to send a potential 10 only to get it back as an 8 or lower with a new scratch or bend.

Awesome stuff. Curious what your thoughts are on grading vintage that are high value but are along the “moderately played” scale (edge-ware, surface scratches, etc.). Guessing it comes down to doing your due-diligence and what it would likely grade as. Are some cards, even with ware, are more valuable raw at that point?

Thanks for this video man. I’ve been considering grading some of my higher value cards and haven’t been to sure yet on why when or how to really Go about it. I’ve only started collecting again about 4 months ago since I was a kid back when pk cards first came out in the last 90s/early 2ks and have had some extremely good luck and really good pulls. I basically keep all my Cards even bulk in as best storage and condition as I possibly can but this is valuable information for me to know. So I appreciate the time and effort you took into making this content for us. Way helpful. Now I’d like to ask you what company do you recommend I go with because I’ve heard some horror stories with some of these reputable companies. So I’d be more then grateful if u can provide me with your recommendations and what’s the best packages from those companies to go with. Thanks man once again for this and take care.

Finally a video that had some value. Especially because you shared your own process. 👌🏼 what is the communities feedback regarding card conditions from NM cardmarket listings? Are those only listed because the seller didn’t think it’s going to be a PSA 9 or 10? Or is there really a chance that you get a god condition card? Thank you all.
