As a brazilian, who lived the whole life in Brazil, I alert: we have never been proud about the reality shown in the movie City Of God. This film is so true to life and heartbreaking for all of us. So, please, dont see criminal as a nice way of life or something. Futhermore, don't think entire Brazil is drowned in the crime, our country has beautiful places, wonderful people and great culture, as any other have.

I was thinking precisely about that, being the second time I saw the video, I doubted the way in which this video got so many 11 Million views and I thought of two things reading your comment, the first is because of the cinematography, the background music, while the The images are impressive due to the sequence shown in the film. The music gives it that relaxed atmosphere, provoking a feeling of everyday life in the video. These things generate wrong thinking about the entire reality. I am surprised that your opinion is not seen more in the comments box, it shows that you are an intelligent person.

The same i could say about colombia bro, the country has a lot of beauty, not only drugs and shit, even though brazil to me is scary as how i see the us too, but like everywhere, there is bad and good people. Pd: the track gives me the feeling of riding a bicycle around the hoods of sao paulo or valparaiso in the mourning and just enjoy the sun and the air passing on my arms and face.

"No", as in a negative, in portuguese would be "não" Well, I think it makes a lot of sense, for me it means something like: when you're in love and you suffer because of it, you find in this emotion a reason to sing. You know, "love hurts", and this feeling is a good reason to sing.

Yeah, but don’t take it too serious, favelas showed in this movie are the most dangerous in the country and they’re not that bad as featured nowadays, in fact they evolved in a good way inside them there are grocery stores, supermarkets, pharmacies, local service and stores, but humbler, is like a “city in a city”. Kids and teenagers don’t shot each other for a couple bucks or to decide who is the actual head in the traffic of drugs of the hood. I’m just saying it because I left Brazil and people always generalized that every Brazilian is from a favela, although a high percentage of us never happened to get in one; we just get chocked as you watching on tv; plus super big violent favelas are major in our metropolitan cities and bigger ones and are like 40-50km away from the downtown and suburbs. I’m glad you enjoyed our cinema, you should try “Meu nome não é Johnny”, “My name ain’t Johnny”.

This Movies show the sad reality of black Communities in Rio de Janeiro. Many of these people dont have great opportunity in life so they end up like that, but at the same time. Rio is probably the second best state for economical opportunity, and one of the most dangerous. It means, there are plenty of states where people are even poorer and there is way less crime, poverty can't explain crime rate, it has something to do with the ethical values of the city.

Just got back from a date with the girl of my dreams and its crazy met over a month ago on holiday and just so happened to live close to eachother, everytime i put this on i think of her its 3 am laying here looking up the stars just smiling ear to ear havent felt this good in a long time even if it’s nothing to do with love the beautiful voice behind just sends chills. I remember the whole coach ride back to the airport i had this on with similar songs just couldnt stop thinking of her its crazy how love can just come outta no where and just smack you straight in the face ah even tho no ones gunna care just had to get it off my chest hope everyones doing well ❤️

An associate of mine lent me the movie and I almost did want to give it back. I watched 5 times in 3 days. The film it was shot on was color graded beautifully. And the acting from the cast was outstanding. Great work from everyone a part of the production

I remember watching this with my family in brazil when i was very young, probably 7. and i was really scared so theyd make me cover my eyes or go to sleep, but i kept on wanting to watch it since it was really interesting to me. I honestly don’t remember anything other than i was scared and confused watching this, I didn’t understand anything since i was so young. One part I remember was when he goes over to one of the guys playing soccer and trades clothes with him so the other guy gets arrested and not him. Watching that i was like wow thats so smart but so mean.
