I had the pleasure of hearing Saied perform Al Rozana on Saturday in the company of like-minded brothers and sisters in Cambridge, UK courtesy of the Amos Trust. Truly wonderful. Beautiful, my great-grandmother and grandmother took care of me as a boy and would sing this to me as a lullaby every nite, warms my heart thank you

This song is from the Levant folklore. Apparently in a year of drought and while the men had to leave their homes and towns on a ship called 'Al Rozana', in order to get water and food, one of the women who stayed behind was singing to the ship that her husband was sailing on and asking the ship to bring him back home safely. Many versions exist, this is the one i know!
