Covering the Main Traveller and Main Sheet. A little long this one, but the end is more of a minor critique of Sailaway's traveller.

How do you get this camera view? Zoomed out but still able to trim the sails and move the traveler etc? My camera always seems to be too close to everything, and it atomatically starts zooming into areas, seemingly randomly, even though I have that turned off in the options.

press page up or page down buttons to switch the camera views

Still working through the series, Its very handy. Mate, do you know of any mods where we can change the colour shades of the ocean? I've noticed in most area's its not at all correct or in line with the cloud cover and conditions. Its quite annoying being a retired commercial fisherman sailing around in really drab scenery. Would appreciate any help. Cheers from WA

Sailaway does need proper updates for correct boat responses. Another thing it can’t do is Hove To since both main sail & foresail gybe & tack together automatically is annoying.

I agree totally with you - I'm just waiting for Sailaway 2 to see if this is the foundation for moving forward. I hope so anyway.

Nomad do you sail in real life? If so what type of boat. Sail locally or done passages yourself

@@Mikinct - yep sail most weekends on a 38 Foot Van de Stat which was originally built in Japan. She's old, slow but she's built for tough for blue water. We've done some fairly small passages on her around Korea and to Japan from Busan (where I currently reside). Sailed in a number of ORC cups etc but the plan is to get my own boat one day and do some longer passages.

Nomad cool, what were the waves & wind like at that passage from Japan to Buscan? That is a nice big boat. Much experience with dealing with large sails. What sails does she have access to? Main sail & Genoa or a regular size Jib? Seen a video where a couple just added a new storm Jib & put another reef in their main sail so they now have a 3rd reef access on a longer passage & can handle bad weather better. So much to learn, other sailors have trisails or other sail names that are used in stronger winds. Some even have stern sails. Next is I like to learn more about rigging- how each rope is around a boat diagram. How they work inside the boom etc.

I’d like to learn more about how ropes are laid out, how it works inside the boom. Ability to change out sails & add ropes if one ever fouled on a passage.

One thing I read is the more the boat heels the more drag & slower it gets. Not on Sailaway yet. In real life how do you get out of a broach or a knock down to bring boat back upright? Open halyards & try bringing sails in & down.

You try your best to keep the vessel in a straight line downwind or down a swell and steer through the broach doing your best not to get side on. Once back in control, Change your underpants, Lower your main ( put a reef on it ) and use a Stay Sail. Quickly assess what's best for the conditions you are in and learn from mistakes. Hope this helps mate.

I couldn't watch more than 5 minutes of this. The constant movement of the camera's point of view started giving me a headache. Just let the camera rest for awhile on the shot while you're explaining. 90% of the time there was no reason to change the view. I wish I had been able to watch this. It sounded like it might have been the explanation I was looking for. Thank you.

Do you have any better tutorials mate? perhaps you could take time out of life to string some together. I think he's offered a good series of basic SailAway skills in this series, I don't know why the negative comment.
